As far as I know, you'd have to use a memory editor like cheat engine to view it, or more specifically with Elosnack. Either way, you can't do it ingame in normal or Plus. I think the Omake version does have a faith meter, but they didn't translate anything to english for that one.

Permadeath is a high value factor, but it's not required.

Plus Elona has defacto permadeath where you are so mutated and diseased from Etherwind you constantly die and respawn only to die.

Does anyone know where the text entry for the newer skills might go? I think there was something in the changelog about that.

It's not all that hard, but even if you make one it doesn't let you have it automatically. They spawn all over your game, so you'd have to capture one. You're better off finding a monster with stats you like, then using Plus's shapechange option to change the sprite individually. Normally, you can use an animated one that you'd use for a player, but this is limited by width and height if you want a 48x96 sprite.

So, you just get your 48x48 or 48x96 pixel 24-bit bmp sprite, and put it in the user/graphic folder. Name it pic_#.bmp, where # is the number you have to remember to enter in the box when you use it in the game. Small sprites are 0-15 or something, large 16-32. Go to the game, and 'i'nteract with your pet. Enter that number, and you have a different looking pet. You might have to make sure the transparent part is pure RGB(0,0,0) black on some sprites. The shape change method doesn't seem nearly as picky as replacing other sprites.

It's actually in the user/talk (I think?) folder, the same one you place files that change your pets' random text. You can now set your character to one of them, and the text for the special skills can be found right at the bottom of the file, with the textSpecial tags (or something like that).

Go to Derphy, start doing quests at the mission board there (+1 karma per quest). If you find a lost wallet/suitcase, go to a town with guards, use a disguise kit/incognito spell and deliver the lost item to a guard. (+5 karma per item returned).

If you find unburied adventurers, bury them (+5 karma).

The nun's price goes down as your karma rises. I checked her price when my karma was -100 and it was like 3.5mi, I returned when it was -60 and the new price was more like 1.6mi.

For anyone that does this: just try to do it early to get it out of the way. The stats that you lose from the guard kills aren't that bad, and if you do it early you don't have to worry about losing much gold. Just dump your crap in your cave near vernis, so you don't end up having anything disappear accidentally. Using the thief hideout for that helps too, if you filled your cave already.

Anyone resetting like this has to remember the items in the map disappear. You can get seeds back fairly easily in Plus from Harvest Time, but you'd also want to make sure you don't leave any important stuff on the map.

As for other places to look, there are sites that contain stuff that isn't on any uploaders, but they're mostly on sites where people post collections of other people's stuff. It's kind of inaccurate at the moment, so if anyone has knowledge about what specific bits do, it would be appreciated.

You can actually check out yourself by activating wizard mode by typing in wizard in the console, then gain_spact in the console. You might want to copy your save or use a new save for this, because it kind of ruins your game. The invokes are in the special action list for some reason, probably so monsters can use them at will. Hard to tell if they have any special effects yet, so we'll probably have to wait for a translation of an explanation.

Just started playing this a while ago.

Is it worth it to level up casting? How big of a role do spells play in this game? I'm looking through all my spells, and they all have a spell cast chance of 5 percent, so it's probably going to be a bitch to level them.

I was trying to figure out how the text display worked for the new invokes, and apparently you can 'i'nteract with yourself now and apply a tone .txt file like you can with monsters. The lines you use for them are under %txtSpecial,EN , which you can see in the sample.txt in the user/talk folder. It uses the default lines for the "younger brother" example custom NPC for everything though. You'd have to change every line at the moment. The %txtCharge should work too, for the charge special action. Didn't mess with the rest. There are template variables for stuff, some of which are in that file, like {player} for your own name.

Part of that might be your equipment, although starting out is still rough. Being a pure spellcaster is mostly for people that hate themselves, but Plus just made it so you get elemental boosts to that type of damage based on what your resistance is.

You get a big penalty if you're over 15s equipped, so you need to stay at light equip weight. It goes up a little more if you have one hand free, although I don't know the formula. Plus also has some bonuses that are on basic equipment types now, and one of those is casting on magic hats. That'd help a lot, but I don't know if you could find one at low levels. Oh, and riding also ruins casting chances.

Ahh, thank you. I wasn't aware of the elemental boosts and the penalty for being over 15s in equips. Definitely helped out my casting chances. I suppose I'll try to look into spells a little bit more in the wiki, and maybe I'll start training some if I'm not too lazy.

Your casting chance goes up as you level the spells and your casting skill. You get casting skill and spell level increases even for failing, so even if most of your spells are at 5% now, you can get them to work reliably after spamming a few books' worth.

The only thing you have to take note of is the hard cast chance cap. The problem with heavy equipment, using a shield or dual wielding is that all of these decrease your maximum success rate by a %. For example, dual wielding reduces your casting chance by 6%, so even with 9999 casting skill, your cast chance will never exceed 94% for all spells. The only way to counter this is to be a warmage, the warmage class has a hidden feat that increases your casting chance by 5%, disregarding the hard cap. A dual wielding warmage will reach a maximum success rate of 99% with all spells.

Don't bother putting too many points in casting, all of your spells (except wish) will reach 100% eventually, even with a low casting skill.

Guys, guys, guys. You can reset pretty much any map tile by holding delete while you press enter. You don't have to buy another farm.

It isn't. The bonuses to skills are always present, while Decapitation only happens in a very specific situation, and even then not always. The same with every other bonus that weapons other than scythes got on Plus. These new abilities only triggering while near maximum HP is the only thing that makes scythes still not be totally worse than the rest, but even then this is a serious indirect nerf.

I want to advance the main quest but I think my level is too low (level 8 warrior, I used to have a level 20 thief or so but I got to many diseases I can't get rid of), I keep dying trying to reach the 16th floor of the first dungeon. I'm unsure what I should be doing to level up, at the moment I'm just doing hunting/escort quests and it's getting kind of boring.

Being a caster in Elona+ is quite refreshing in this new update. The (more than) halved stock costs for spells means I don't need spellbooks that much. In my current game, I'm literally holding the shortcut key for my magic dart in between runs and [R]ests and I'm not even halfway though all the magic cart book I just randomly came across during my adventures. Then, after closer inspection, I find that it's only eating 1 stock per cast. That means that when you get a magic dart dream, you just got a license to 200 darts for free. Other spells are were improved this way as well, most intriguingly, the Wizard Harvest skill. It gives massive amounts of gold per book now. Even one successful read with 0 memorization gives about 3-4 casts, that can potentially give ~10k in gold, not to mention assorted goodies like high level ancient books, small medals and plats. To top it all off, training spell potentials are free and stack massively at 20% per sleep. That means I've got stock spells I don't use at 400% potential, and then first time I'll ever use them, they'll rank up to level 2, then 3 on the next, etc.

I'm just saying, if you were at one point anally raped by Elona for choosing to be a pure spellcaster before, it might be about time to kiss and make up, because you might like what you'll find.

Oh, and one thing in addition - attached pic goes out to that anon looking for a way to acquire an iron maiden. It's the first time I've seen one in the shop. And you know what, anon? I didn't fucking buy it.

Find out what you're lacking and chase after it. Lacking in attack power? Do some side quests given by some characters, like the cat tamer quest. You get dragon scale material on complete, which you can use to bring one of your equipments next to godliness. If you're playing Elona+, you can try farming money in a lot of different ways, certainly what you're doing counts well enough. Then, use that money to buy equipment +1s from blacksmiths. If you manage to get all of your equipment up to around +4, you should see a bit of an improvement in your chances. If you're lacking on spell resistances, you might want to clear low-level dungeons and horde bejeweled chests. Then, find a level 100 or so dungeon, get lucky day somehow, like eating blessed food and open them all up inside there to get (relatively) impressive goods and extra cash.

Or you can give up the main quest and find some other thing to be autistic about, like trying to ramp your museum up to rank 1. Or how about try living the life of a criminal? That was very exciting, that criminal game of mine.

once you finish the North Tyris main quest, note that the last level of the dungeon has the following properties:

1. it respawns like puppy cave
2. there's never any monsters in it
3. there is frequently material spots (2~5 average). it gives pretty high quality material since it's lvl 45.
4. one in five or so chance of a well
5. one in ten or so chance of a shrine

this makes it a pretty good grinding spot. especially since you can go to it at any time using a return scroll. I use it to make a shitton of shoes using Tailoring, turn them into Raw using Jeweler, then eat to gain speed. that and getting a shitton of casino chips.

Oh...i did Cacy the cat tamer quest.

Fairy pianist. Barely enough evasion to evade the HUMONGUOUS FELINE ATTACK ... holy shit ... i leveled up twice , trained a lot combat and magic, GOT ALSO A SILVER CAT wow.
Not to mention the tons of free roast lion meat , due to the frequent fires.
It was a pretty epic, yet LONG combat. I had to stay on the stairs, (f) like crazy, magic, health potions ,frequently escaping upstairs to cure my party. Sometimes Cacy or some other monster teleported me in another squuare of the underground house.... oh shit oh shit ... barely struggled to get back on the stairs...

Actually, I've made a sure and documented test right now, and even my guesstimate was too high off the mark. I did say 6 stock per cast, but when I tested it (pic is the test per cast), it showed an average of 3 (!) stocks consumed per cast. If you would notice around the bottom, it suddenly became 4 stock per cast and then 2 stocks, I think this is because the actual stock consumption is something like 3.3.... ish. Which actually may imply that the cost is scaling, ever so slowly at that. As you can see, my Chaos Eye is already at level 7. Now I'm unsure of what the stock consumption was at exactly level 1, but if we assume that it starts from 3 stocks flat, it means that the scaling factor for 7 levels is a measly ~10%. Still very small, in my opinion.

I would also be interested in the level of your Chaos Eye spell, to see if it adds up.

Kumiromi is quite possibly the best God in Elona+.

Farming is buffed to all hell in Elona+, seeds are now very easy to get due to the Harvest Time change, there's a statue of Kumiromi that spawns good seeds every time you use it. Herb food is a massive statbooster. And for pets, herb food doesn't ever go down in effectiveness. Kumiromi increases stamina regen as well which is amazing since stamina is even more useful in Elona+.

For the cute fairy, it depends on the quality of food you're feeding it.

Farming has also been made substantially easier with compost.

Yeah, that article forgets to mention that you have to 'p'ray once you get the message that you have enough favor for a gift. Keep in mind that your favor goes down every time you pray, so if you have less than you needed you'll have to give some extra offerings to get back to where you were. You lose some favor even when you get the gift, but there's no frustration factor. Praying clears hexes and heals you, so it's handled that way to prevent people from abusing it.

So, after looking this up on my debug char to get stats, it kept disappearing like I already had one. Turns out that it replaced an artifact that I had used debug wishes to get stats for before in the item list. I think it was the AGC-357 Enlil.

Just so you know, food increases have nerfed a bit. You can only get up to normal naturally now. Still, nether has typically been harder to find resistance for than most other stuff besides magic. It'd be nice to use with attribute too, since the nether damage you'd do heals you somewhat.

Actually, you could try to dominate a hell crab and try to use that to on a farm to get corpses a little more often. It'd still be fairly slow, but you could also use rubbing and see if killing the spawning crabs would increase the effect.

I know I've been asking a lot of dumb questions, but here's two more. Firstly, what is a good way to track down treasure maps that don't seem to have any noticeable landmarks? Also, does ingame chat even do anything?

Well, there is a way to do it that might seem rather cheap. You can fill in the file that contains the mess that obscures the map with pure black (or whatever color that file is using for transparency) to make it all transparent. This doesn't make it a ton easier, but you can at least see more landmarks. You can save scum maps the first time you open them as well, since their location is random until they are read. I don't think there's a current map of North Tyris for Plus, which would be helpful since some of the landmarks look different. Can't help you on the chat thing, no idea.

I should have made sure I wasn't going to do it myself first. Threw a bunch of debug-wish chestnuts, I assume over 100, at a punk that I sand bagged. I left the overworld place I was in, and reentered, and there he is. Boss music plays too. That isn't his base level, so it must scale up somehow. He drops a bunch of chestnuts and his card and statue. Wouldn't want to try to take him on with a normal character at that level. He uses rage and makes you bleed when you hit him. No special actions, though. He DID trigger the blunt invoke once, but don't know if it was a SA or triggered naturally.

You might want to try farming, since the bonuses for it are pretty nice now. Fishing is supposedly a good way to make money if you can cook, but both take a long time to improve. You could also try to grab everything you can in the puppy cave. This is a good thing to do while you're leveling up a pet. Scrolls of oracle you find there sell for a lot, and the spellbooks can be decent gold.

He seems to spawn randomly when you enter a world map space after you finish throwing the nuts. I reloaded and ran from him, and he didn't reappear. So at least he won't hound you forever. Pretty funny, though. Seems more like something that should have been put in for eating enough cats. Have a super boss show up to punish you for it.

They are set to no drop. As in I can't do anything stupid like drop, sell, or trade them by accident.

Last time I killed him I was in extremely shit gear but had a pet with enough resists and health to just tank his spells and basic attack so 90% of the damage to Zeome consisted of throwing cursed booze at him for probably 300-400+ turns. I think I ended up having just enough damage to outdamage his healing and I eventually killed him. Your best bet would be to use/get a pet that can use the precious mace with mana drain, a bunch of food and some patience.

Magic resistance should only effect magic damage, like from the crystal spear and magic dart spells. A lot of bosses have some sort of ailment protection, but it probably has more to do with stats and level of the boss and the level of your spell than some other special protection.

Pets level up a lot faster now, but they do still take a lot of work. A starting pet can stay matched with your level, but if you have several they might fall behind. It's almost always easier to capture/dominate new ones, although you won't be able to take advantage of the AP shop that way. DV, it's life is far too low to consider PV. It's still probably gonna splat often to some mages and the sort. Poison traps and damage traps are their bane. Try and get it some poison resist.

You don't need to switch to Japanese mode to wish for the hidden characters.　You just need to finish Kyle's quest, read the book and wish for it. Plainly wishing for the Insane Book and reading it will not do. You need to finish the quest first or else you'll just get a message that pretty much says 'There can't possibly be any hidden characters in this game.'

I always wonder how the guards could recognize a criminal from a non-criminal. Do they have spears that work like Dominators in Psycho Pass or something? I had some major problems with my custom music a couple of patches ago. Some of the tracks didn't play, so I was thinking it was something to do with it not reading the codec of certain tracks correctly. In your case, you might want to check and see if all the new tracks are included, along with the names. Move the musiclist.txt so it creates a new default when the game loads up, then add the lines you might be missing to the old custom one.

Not really, but I always had more luck with the bandit ambushes. You could always try loading up on cargo and baiting them. It's kind of a waste to recruit the Kaneda bike, but they're nice for Somas, since those increase your stats more than blessed restore body/spirit potions.

The 3 blue capsules are actually very easy to get. Just get some 800+ cargo and they attack like crazy. You're going to need to rely on your pets to kill them though, since this will lower your speed down to 10. If they're too strong, then lower your fame.

You (or a pet, maybe?) already had a copy of that, so it randomly generated another item. You can use that to generate a lot of random (and potentially godly) items if you happen to collect and drop off a lot of one item in your home or something.
