I just spend more time on lines. I use more strokes for darker lines like corners and the outermost lines. I'm sorry, I don't know how to explain it well.

Everything is in a deferent perspective, the bed the window the character, they all look at a deferent vanishing point. I dont want to sound rude, but i wish that when i started someone slapped me and told me how to practice correctly because i was just wasted my time. Learn perspective, and not from a tutorial of a "deviantart master" get a good book like perspective made easy or find the tutorials from ctrl paint. It's good you can take critique and grow from it. As >>10730551 mentioned you should get a better grounding in anatomy/perspective/shading by practicing more and exercising those concepts with sketches. A good base will make your art stand out among the rest and you'll be astonished by how fast you improve and old drawings will look awful as you move along.

That's a nice Koishi, but you will find that it lacks something. Note the lineart in >>10729788 and how it gives detail not just by adding more, but by using varying width lines. Fabric behaves in certain ways and it's easy to convey how it falls and crumples with a few lines. Your Koishi by virtue of having the same brush in every line looks traced and flat.

How fast should an artist draw his lines so they look as smooth as possible? When I draw fast they look somewhat smooth but they always go in the wrong place, and when I draw slowly they look shaky as fuck.

I like the coloring, specially for the skin. The chipped ice wings is a nice detail as well.
Playing with hair gesture really fits better a character with longer hair. And the big breasts are just distracting since they don't go well with that sort of dress and blouse. I get it that it's to your personal preference and that's fine, but it could have been a nicer picture without the massive rack. At least it seems to have sag and behave like fat. Skirt doesn't seem to bunch up naturally though and her leg positioning does look a bit uncomfortable after a close look, which goes against the feel you're trying to go with. Her left leg laying on the floor sideways with the right one just like that achieves the pantyshot and looks more relaxed.

Overall it's pretty nice. Just nitpicking for the sake of it. I'd for one would hate to be just sorta good and then stagnate at that plateau because nobody wants to give an honest critique.

Noted. I think Cirno with big breasts could work with an alternate dress design. Why not a sweater or a casual corset? But her simple dress really strains against the chest.
In other words, if she had those breast measurements she wouldn't wear what she does as a flat chested fairy. That's how I see it and I am aware it's really absurd thinking in a world where it's acceptable for all blouses to disregard gravity and hug under breasts just to give them a better clothed look. But impossible clothes are just that and they become really apparent after close inspection.

I think the lighting would behave differently with such low sources. Not sure exactly how to convey that, but such a clear shadow wouldn't be there for one. The moon looks nice with that aura around it.
The colors look right, but I would work on the lighting and how different materials diffuse and reflect the light in different ways. Clothes don't really have the same highlight as flesh does, it scatters or something like that.
Really like what you did with the night sky, but the treeline could use more detail to give sell the idea that it's closer to the foreground.

I think it's a really ambitious piece, playing with darkness and lighting like that and it does look nice. Really can't give concrete advice since I'm not an artist, but the colors feel right with the limited palette of an eerie night. Maybe play more with that, sickly green hues to make it look more unreal and unnatural. Alien if you will.

You are on a good path. The image in general has a foggy feeling and the character looks a bit washed out. If you where going for that, well ok i guess but if not, add more saturation to your colors, don't be afraid of shadows with lots of saturation, if done correctly they will look very dark and also very vivid. You can try also stress your values a bit more if you want, but the main thing for me is the cloth, the clothes dose not feel separated from the body, they have the same type of blending, try harder brushes and see what happens, stress the folds more but be careful to not add folds that are not there, it will look weird and cheap. Good luck, it looks very promising.

also when people say this, they don't mean draw real 3d people photorealistically, but just to get their proportions right. you can stylize them a bit then, as long as everything's still in proportion.

you don't need to draw disgusting 3d faces to look as close to real as possible either if you just want to draw animu, it'll leave you with bad habits (huge lips for example).

Speed comes with getting familiarized with what you are drawing. I remember spending endless hours struggling to get my proportions right. If you want speed start building real anatomical knowledge, that way you wont have to struggle with every drawing just to get it right and you will only wary about design.

Real body's look and work in a certain way, if you put time into learning that you can learn it and then stylized to your needs. A lot of "anime style" "works" because its anatomy is bad, and not necessarily stylistically or purposely bad.

Training yourself to not ever draw bad anatomy will hinder you in making "anime style" drawings because you'll probably end up creating something that ends up in the uncanny valley. In the end i guess it comes down to what you are satisfied with. If you just draw for the heck of it and you dont really care about your skill level then i guess its ok, but if you want to someday come to this level you must have a very good grasp of all fundamentals. And symbolical drawing is not what you are saying it is. Not knowing how to draw a real face a real body you will come down to use what you thing that they look like, and usually completely wrong, not stylized but wrong. On the other hand if you know how to construct a real face, a real body you can just study a style that you want and apply it you can tone down the realism as much as you like. I think most people fall into Photoshop or Painttool.

Generally also ends up deciding most peoples colouring styles.

Painttool takes less set up changing brush styles, etc. But has less features overall.

i didn't want to bother /ic/ but is there a noticable difference between 4000 and 5080 LPI on a tablet? i'm trying to figure out whether i should buy a huion k58 or h610. h610 clearly has more features and is also bigger but a k58 looks cooler and has 10 more rps and 1080 more lpi, however that matters. they're also pretty much priced the same

There's a tool I have on photoshop that I enjoy using, then I'll import my sketch or lineart to SAI and do most of the coloring work there, sometimes import back to PS for some polishing and cropping and call it a day. All the switching is time consuming, but I don't really hate it.

I can't color to save my life and I can't draw details to clothing too well. I always say I'll practice more and more, but in the end I stop drawing for months at a time and gotta start from point A. Then when I get the muse to draw again...it's for a week at most and then the cycle repeats...

You sound like the ironic one posting that in a thread full of anime art, anime is not exactly a productive thing to draw. It's fun, and a lot of people enjoy it, and I assume that's mostly why people draw it, just like the artist who drew this picture probably enjoys drawing his style, and isn't that what drawing is about in the end? He also seems to have a good sense of the fundamentals, like value and anatomy, which could take him on to draw pretty much anything else, which can't be said for most anime artists sadly.
