Give me a game to play, /jp/! Something that isn't Touhou or Yume Nikki. Genre doesn't matter but it must be playable on PC. I don't play much /jp/ related games (other than VNs) which is why I must ask you this.

I'm going to go buy some alcohol for my future gaming endeavors. I expect some replies when I get back.

It wasn't a Dark Forces game. There's no reason to use any of the weapons once you get your lightsaber back. No reason. And the game is less about tactical infiltration as an agent and more about dancing around like a schizophrenic jumping bean slicing people up or force pushing them to their doom.

Completely different genres.

Dark Forces: Jedi Knight was fun. It was obviously a little different, but I'm glad they gave him a lightsaber. Dark Forces II: Do The Same Shit Again would have been boring, and there were already user-created maps for Dark Forces.
Also I really liked the live-action cinematics. I wish they kept that going for the sequels.

>>10708797
I get what you mean and at this point they'd dropped the Dark Forces title, but it was still a damn fun game (again, in a different way, though many of the same elements were there).

>There's no reason to use any of the weapons once you get your lightsaber back. No reason. And the game is less about tactical infiltration as an agent and more about dancing around like a schizophrenic jumping bean slicing people up or force pushing them to their doom.

This is how I feel about Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast at least had you use guns for a while, then you had to actually train for Force powers. Jedi Academy was like a bad fan fiction all about the lightsabers. Plus some French faggot made a mod EVERYBODY uses for multiplayer, and he made it so bullets almost never hit people wielding lightsabers (which was bad enough in the original game). It really fucked up the mechanics of Capture The Flag, except for PUGs where people strafed so fast that nobody ever bothered with lightsabers.

You know, this is off topic, but I really think it's a shame how live-action cinematics died a horrible death in PC games. I remember Mechwarrior 4's LA cinematics and I thought they were pretty good

It's a shame Mechwarrior Online has become such a piece of shit. I would love to be able to play a good BattleTech game, but they keep sucking at implementation. What is it with game companies that can't do matchmaking to prevent imbalances? Why do we have to do pay-to-win on everything?

>>10708873
They could've kept Dark Forces and KK separate from those games and made a new foofy Jedi guy. Everybody, everywhere has to discover that they're a Jedi or "Force sensitive" in the Star Wars Extended Universe. Fucking Jedi coming out of the woodwork.

Doom and Blood are fun.

I've also been playing Max Payne lately, it is or has the basis for everything i hate about modern FPS (linear, slow paced, no secret zones, bullet time that solves everything etc) rolled into one big ball, but it's done so nicely that i can't hate it, like an abusive drunkard husband, honestly.

I guess it was like, "Holy shit, we can do this now. Might as well do it!"

I was discussing Daggerfall here some time ago, because I like discussing on-topic games. I enjoyed the intro to that game. It felt serious and real, I guess you could say.

>>10708922
>They could've kept Dark Forces and KK separate from those games

Overall I liked Kyle Katarn's arc. I just wish it was a little more consistent. Go play Jedi Outcast then play Dark Forces. Tell yourself it's the same character and try not to laugh.

>made a new foofy Jedi guy.

Because Jaden Korr was such a great character? I liked Kyle because you had the backstory in the manual and you played the games and learned about his dad. He was moulded into a Jedi rather than just, "Hey you're some guy and you're Force-sensitive. Want to join the Jedi Academy? Okay cool here's your lightsaber and 50 free experience points."

I agree with you about everyone being a Jedi, but the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series stands out to me as something that was well-made over a fairly long period of time, created both before the prequel trilogy and during it, without letting retcons or anything get in the way. Plus he went from the whole Galactic Civil War thing to the New Jedi Order. It was a good bridge between the two.
Obviously they hadn't planned out Kyle's little arc ahead of time, but it worked because he was an established character. It wasn't just, "I have the rights to a Star Wars novel? Well my name's John Smith, I might as well call the main character Jon S'mif...Oh! And he has a six-sided lightsaber! And he fights Darth Vader!"

Why Bioshock Infinite? How can you guys support games that have a port to the Xbox360?
How can you support evil of this magnitude? Why can't you guys stick to Nintendo and Sony exclusives? Don't you guys see that you must BOYCOTT ALL GAMES THAT HAVE A PORT FOR THE XBOX.
By buying games with a port you're approving and promoting gaijinBox360.

Modern FPS? Max Payne? Are you fucking high?

It basically single-handedly made bullet time a Thing in all subsequent FPS games. That's like hating Evangelion because it's just another grimdrama mecha show like all the others of today, or whatever. It was the one who set the trend that you're bitching about

Besides, it doesn't even make use of cover in any serious way, so that alone should set off the "not like modern FPSs" alarm
