Funny how her scenario went exactly how I expected it to go after her very first scene
Not bad but kind of bland so far, but based on the impressions I've seen the last route is what make the game so I'll get to it, I probably won't do the other routes though.

Also the route of Yomi's itself was devoid of ero but the epilogue pulled like 6 ero scenes one after the other.

I thought the repetitive narrative would be great for me since I easily miss things, but it's becoming a real chore to read through. I don't really like the character design either (their faces look off somehow).

Yeah Hina's route is definitely the reason to read this game.
Her route is unlocked after doing Yomi and is basically what the whole thing build up to, I was also pleasantly surprised since I didn't expect the story to go in such a direction.
To spoil a bit her route is divided in 2 parts, a route when she is still a child during the main game (no ero of course, she is like 6) and an after story that take place 10 years later. That after story is interesting since the protagonist decides to adopt her during the event of her first route so you have them having a father daughter dynamic while also developing a romance
Writing-wise both routes are pretty similar to Kono Oozora ni, you can clearly see the writer style in action.

Well the main problem is that I was expecting some emotional impact seeing the direction the story takes but the game keeps a very subdued style all the way through. I guess it's nice that way but the game ends up feeling a bit unremarkable in the end.

I also tried Luka's route a bit and it was terrible, seeing the comments of other people who read it it looks like the other route is the same, I guess they are the routes to read if you want to ero though since the ero for Yomi/Hina only happen during the very last part.of their routes.

I'd imagine that repositioning the text box to the center or higher up on the screen wouldn't be much of a pain for most games and amateur programmers.

I played through around half of the first game, but stopped for... well, honestly, I don't think I had any reason to stop and just got distracted.

From what I've played, the plot and situations weren't particularly original but managed to be entertaining. It's a standard setup involving a weak normal human meeting powerful people of other races and being the "string" of friendship, love and all that fancy stuff that binds them together, but never reaches obnoxious levels, but it does involve (relatively early game spoilers about how the plot works) multiple universes. The writing is surprisingly decent, which helped a bit.

The art is a bit inconsistent sometimes (Note looks a bit off in some sprites and CGs), but the soundtrack is excellent. There is, for example, a point early in the game where Vell's theme starts playing for the first time, which fit the scene pretty well. And of course, great opening song by nao.

To be honest, though, because it's divided in 4 games, you should take my opinion with a barrel of salt, since I haven't even finished the first one. If you end disliking one of the three main heroines, you'll probably have problems going through their respective game (I think there's still endings for the other heroines, though, which makes me ask if it means that you're going to take their virginity multiple times). Either way, instead of my useless opinion, you should just check EGS, I guess.

I played the whole series and to be honest the only reason I finished the damn thing is because of Vell. I'll have to admit that the first episode was above average (compared to your average moege) due to Vell moe/love which filled it. But the series only got worse as it went on, it had the same plot development which usually just branched at the end of the game and because of it having multiverses - the heroines virginity get restarted every episode, the ero scenes weren't even erotic!

Another thing I hated about the game was because at some point in each episode, one of the character/heroine starts becoming retarded and becomes the main antagonist of that episode which leads to obnoxious and rage-inducing developments. I especially hated the episode where Kou(one of the sub-heroines) becomes the antagonist.

Overall, it was a below average game for me. Unless you really liked episode 1 ( and Vell), I would suggest you don't finish the series.

Yurie and Rion's routes in Pokekoi completed. I'm not sure I want to bother with the other two routes because this game is a sloppy mess.

As far as the scenario goes, there's nothing particularly good, but nothing particularly bad either. Part of it is about the Heroes Club acting as, well, heroes, taking requests from other people and solving cases, another part involves some general problem with the club and the relationship between the protagonist and the heroine, and the other part is sex. Seems fairly standard, but the way it's organized is a mess. The entire game is an unorganized mess. I'm starting to think that something went seriously wrong during development.

First is the common route, separated into episodes mostly unrelated to each other and all pretty short (some last only 5 minutes). Then comes the actual routes, where the protagonist and the heroine become a couple. In Rion's route, right after that there's 7 consecutive H scenes (all of them) that are completely disjointed from any sort of continuity, and then some minor drama involving her jealousy and pride problems and their graduation. In Yurie's route, there's a bunch of sex scenes, then the problems, and then another bunch of sex scenes before the protagonist's graduation scene, all completely disjointed without any sort of flow.

It's like they made several separate stories and then glued them together. Of course, that's not all. Hold on to your pants, there's another post incoming.

The art is all over the place and that "it feels like you are having sex with different people" comment fits with all the different art styles. Rion's CGs were comparatively consistent (focus on "comparatively"), but Yurie's ranged from decent to terrible (you might get a chuckle out of http://exhentai.org/s/c31caeece5/578292-261).). In the credits there's 9 people listed in the CG section, which probably explains this. Still, the graduation and ending CGs were drawn in a really rough style and I hope this was intentional, because it did give off a nostalgic feeling.

Regarding the sprites, no animated mouths aside they are pretty well drawn compared to the rest of the art. They went to the trouble of creating a sprite for an asshole that showed up for 10 minutes, which leads me once again to the guess that something went wrong during production and caused this game to be such a seemingly unfinished mess.

That goddamn OP song caught my interest due to it's quirkiness and I hoped that I would be treated to more quirkiness in the game. I was, but unintentionally. A mess though it may be, it has it's charm, the same way that watching trains derail down a cliff is entertaining. To end my unnecessarily angry rant, no, I wouldn't recommend Pokemon Koi Version to anyone.

I'd say it's a lot harder than Liar-soft games at least. The archaic language isn't such a big problem for the most part. Although as mentioned already, there are some infodumps that can be rather confusing, especially during the battles. You'll most likely have to rely a lot on your dictionary too.

Then, just a few seconds ago, I learned that it's apparently a child company of Akabei Soft2, so that doesn't seem farfetched anymore.

I finished Yuki's route in Lovesick Puppies and I liked it mainly due to the fact that I really liked the heroine. A playful and easy going osananajimi is the best kind of osananajimi. The flirting scenes and ero scenes were good as well. The main thing that bothered me is that is that the game implies unsubtly that Orie still had feelings for Kotarou late in the route. That is a trivial thing to be bothered by but it felt unnecessary unless the author thinks Orie is the true heroine and wanted me to feel guilty. I wasn't bothered by the dog being a big trauma because it connected Yuki and Kotarou well, plus it fit the theme nicely enough. Not much more to say because this game is exactly what you think it is gonna be but it is my favorite game I have played in 2013. The prologue is the worst part of the game FYI.

The route felt a bit short but I didn't feel bored reading it so I guess games are better short than boring. I don't particularly like any of the other heroines except Orie. Is Orie's route any good? She is really cute when she is dere and I get the feeling that her route is the main one.

Rakuen cannot come out fast enough. I think I'll go reread some Kajitsu.

Yes, but only the best VNs and only after having pirated and played them. I live in the Netherlands so costs for US vary slightly, but it depends on the VN you're buying. Doujin games like Umineko are only around $25, reprints of older games such as clannad are around $45, non-reprinted but non-new games are around $70, new games are around $90. Add ~$20 if you're buying from J-List. Shipping for me is around $15-20; probably cheaper to the US. All of this assumes you're buying relatively well-known titles (buyable at places like AmiAmi) and the game isn't out of print. If it is out of print, there's no real reason to buy it except as a collector's item, as the developer sees none of the money from second-hand game sales. If you insist on getting them regardless, the process becomes much more difficult and expensive and consists roughly of buying one on a Japanese auction site and paying a Japanese company to send it to you (after it's sent to them).
