I hate it when people complain about weaboos and then go on to moan about 'OH NO I HATE FAKE N3RD GIRLS'. I can't help but think they're just as bad - you can't expect a fandom based around little cartoon anime girls and expect it to be full of normal people. It's like buying a doll and then complaining that everyone else who has one is creepy. I would rather have freakish weaboos making things interesting than a bunch of boring bandwagon jumpers trying to set some standard on how they should act. At least the weaboos came up with something we could laugh at, even if they were retarded. You just don't see much of that anymore.

You're missing the point, for as long as the 'anime/Japan fandom' has existed there have always been freaks and weirdos...this is not a cool hobby to have, you can't complain about a few people in the fandom because you think they're cramping your style or whatever. Back then anime characters could be unironically 2D too. You rarely see a legitimate anime character anymore, way too much cliche thrown in.

I've been into this kind of stuff for years and at least publicly I'm very normal. I don't understand why almost everyone else into this stuff (in the East and West) seems to have something wrong with them (eg. NEET/social outcast/retarded/shut-in/slob). I just want nice, normal, outgoing friends who enjoy the same hobbies as me.

It's the same reason my D&D books that I bought when I was 10 went completely unused.

I don't really like 2007ish. Loli was in decline then. I like those older Japanese things they would pot on /f/ back in 2004/5 or so though. Especially those ones that all used those same two techno songs.
