I don't know about that. They made the void only scale starting floor 201 in ver 1.12R and up, mid-high level characters have no decent training ground for combat skills/AP (panic quests not very reliable), or at least that's the case with my character.

I'm hoping the third continent adds new monsters to fill the gap, but really they should've left the void how it was until that stuff is actually in the game, if that's even their plan. Also a way to actually get potions of decent would help (zombies don't drop now).

In any case I'm going to try fight the gods soon, I don't know if my crystal spear will be strong enough. Using the <Vital flayer> and will probably rampage, doubt I can survive multiple hits from them anyway so might as well try kill them with sheer damage.

I'm not sure, from what I read on the Japanese wiki about AP gain, it uses your base speed/stats, not buffed for the calculations. I don't have Opatos's jewel but I guess I'll get it and try that out, just in case that item is an exception or Google translate was just plain wrong.

Just started playing a few days ago. This game is really addictive.
On a side note, does anyone know how to get rid of negative mutations? I have a few beneficial mutations I want to keep, so I'd rather not use potion of cure mutation.

Potions of evolution, or better yet blessed ones. Don't wish for them like people often tell you too(huge waste of a wish, will likely lose the mutations again anyway), invest in magic stores till maybe 100+ shop rank and keep checking them for the potions, I've got a stack of 19 blessed ones from checking my 3 magic store vendors when they restock. Its also possible to find them in dungeons or on adventures but rare.

A little extra info, just in case someone is trying to start like this. As soon as you enter Vernis, the elea guys disappear from your hideout. So avoiding the town gets them to stay there until you can nuke them. That means you have to skip any quests until you can afford the nuke, though. You also might need to suicide once you pick up the nuke, since whatever character you have might not have enough strength to carry it back to your hideout.

You'll also want to make sure you pick up anything you don't want getting destroyed by fire once your hideout is nuked.

If you don't care about their artifact stuff, you can just off them in Party Time quests later on.

Elona Plus 1.16 is the latest version, it has the whole segment of vanilla Elona translated. The new content is not translated properly or completely

There are some guides up in a couple places for the quests that have lousy ingame translations, but I don't know how current they are. There's an Elona pastebin in the roguelike thread in /vg/, and more detailed stuff on the Elona wiki. The vast majority of the problems caused by the language barrier are in the second part of the game, which you can't even get to before you finish the standard Elona game.

For example, while you might wonder about what AP does, you can't even use it until you hit the 2nd continent. You might want to look up the dojo in North Tyris near the south border, but the use of that in the early part of the game would be to pay to store pets.

Having trouble getting armor and ranged weapons lower than -4, acid puddles don't seem to do anything to them anymore.

I can only get melee weapons lower by hitting slimes/acid slimes, but its hard as I still 1 hit them with this raw sword with the <Mechanical binder> equipped. The <Sasumata> was 0 damage from the start so I can easily get it lower but its not the weapon type I need, mostly want to train firearms but can't find a way to corrode my gun more. What do you want to edit? Enemies and NPCs are on graphic/character.bmp, custom player sprites go in graphic/PCCs. Use the stuff in oldPCCs as a guideline if your making player sprites, save as bmp.

To change your player sprite in game go on your character sheet and press p.

Player sprite sheets/clothing/hair/ect go in graphic/PCCs again use the oldPCCs stuff as guidelines for file naming.

It depends on the item. I'm pretty sure most artifacts spawn with the monster, so it'd show up on your artifact.log after you save but before they're killed. Stuff like secret treasures and evolution hearts spawn on the monster's defeat. There should be stuff on the wiki about specific items if you're looking for something in particular.

The problem with the debug races is that they don't have any innate feats, and don't have the maximum amount of equipment slots. The advantages from the stats even out over time, and not having those slots is a major handicap. As far as being bad, Elona+ has the debug F1 save F2 load on by default. You can abuse that all you want, or force close the game if something happens where you can't reload. You don't have to treat it like a real roguelike, just have fun with it.

Never mind, it's completely fucked up. I enter the config menu for example and the only thing that appears is "language", and I can't exit or anything and have to close the program. If I mash esc over and over again I can catch a glimpse of some other settings, but it immediately takes me back to the page with just the language setting. Rerolling the bonuses on artifacts with a scroll of superior material is also supposed to yield better results with more luck. But with Elona's crazy RNG, it's hard to tell whether it's working sometimes.

Also, anyone attempting it should know that the luck you get from blessed food is much lower than what you get from the dream lucky day. I think the statue of Ehekatl's bonus is the latter one, but memory fails me on that point.

It kind of depends on what kind you're looking for. Almost everything is in a non-prepared format, too. Which means you have to do some image editing to get the stuff in the right dimensions, then make sure you put it in the right folder. There was a link to the uploader above, which is a great place for stuff but you have to wade through hundreds of random sprites.

There's a site at http://vkyo.web.fc2.com that has some really nice looking stuff, and everything should be in the right format. If you're looking for parts, there's a link to the graphics pack on the front page of http://elona.wikia.com , although I have no idea if the stuff in there works well with Elona Plus or not.

It's also worth mentioning that the ready-made character sprites require you to use a dresser to disable the clothes display, since they obviously won't look right on whatever custom one you're trying. They also don't work right when you're riding. You can get around that by using the pcc_cloth as pcc_body, but that's kind of a pain. I think you can set the riding sprite to 0 when riding to get rid of any sprite change, as well.

Pets in Plus are MUCH easier to modify now, since you can 'i'nteract with them and set a sprite to a custom one. It tells you where to put the sprite and what to name it when you go to change it.

What should I use my second wish on?

I always end up using them on Kumiromi's secret experiences for extra feats, since you stop getting new ones around 60 or so. Summoning a god can be mildly worth it, since if you meet the favor requirement for that god's last reward, they'll give you one of their jewels. Those aren't that useful most of the time, but nice for collectors.

Zeome is primarily a magic user.
For offensive weaponry, give your pets MP-draining equipment to force Zeome to overcast.
For defensive weaponry, give your pets equipment with high Magic and Chaos resistance, along with plenty of PV.

The first time I beat him, only my titan survived. Since then, I've had similar luck with high-life pets. Bell-abuse and lower life ranged people don't help as much as in most other boss fights. It isn't always easy to recruit what you want to around then, even in Plus. Like the guy above said, you really have to wait for him to run out of magic so he suicides. I always found magic-drain stuff too slow to help much. Remember that you can keep a teleport rod handy to teleport his ass away if you need time to heal a pet.

Other than that, it probably depends on the version you're playing. Some people used to abuse cursed beer in normal Elona, although that doesn't work in Plus.

You do lose the innate racial feat you'd get for a normal race, but nothing majorly negative comes to mind other than the equipment slots.

You could try magic, like dart spells, but you might not have much yet. Throwing some potions is a last resort, but you might want to just try using a weapon with higher pierce. Shotguns work well, since they do high damage at close range with 30% pierce. They lose a lot of damage at longer range, but are actually a good melee alternative if you don't have a high strength attacker or rely mostly on your pets.

Unless you are incredibly, incredibly slow, outspeeding a hermit crab is easy.

Problem is they're machinegods which will make them lose a great deal of their stats/skill levels due to god capture penalty, which I think applies to astral pen captures too.

Zeome tries to get as close to you as possible.
Unless you're primarily a melee fighter and have no good ranged attack, always keep away from him.

He never uses an attack until he's directly adjacent his target. If you just teleport when he gets too close, he'll never attack.

Note that he has a powerful chaos ball spell. If he's aggroed on and adjacent to a pet, he might cast it and catch you in the area-of-effect.

Aside from chaos resistance, speed, and a method of teleporting, you only really need a high damage ranged attack and a decent chance to hit.

The higher your damage, the shorter the fight, and you don't want the fight to drag on too long.
He has a heal spell, and the longer the fight takes the more chances he has to use it.

I know with domination & monster balls, they lose their resistance stats when you acquire them. Like a wild spiral king would have all superb resistance except for magic, but when you dominate one they lose all their resistances.

Get a shop and dominate a high level rogue warrior (the ones that try take your cargo on overworld) make him your shop seller. My level 210 one has 386 CHR/271 negotiation and is able to sell any rubbish for profit, make sure to sell empty containers like bejeweled chests as you can get full ones again if your shop seller is good.

I've stopped bothering with fishing/preforming/cargo trade as clearing high end dungeons can give you a max of 999999 gold, along with any stuff I get from bejeweled chests that can go in the shop for more money.

13253315 gold in salary chest, 2772688 in shop safe, 35 million across my kitty banks. I don't think I've touched my salary chest money in 400 hours as I quickly had too much money on hand, so really just focus on getting stronger character/pets and do dungeons/stock shop.

Probably not, since DV seems really unreliable against really strong stuff, and you can get lots of items with regular magic and elemental resistance. I'd almost say go with golems since there's still no other way to resist the dim status. I'm not sure there are other advantages that I can't think of right now.

Oh, and for anyone that hasn't used riding sprites, the first part goes as pcc_ride_# and the 2nd is pcc_ridebk_#. The body sprite disappears when you ride, and you choose what riding sprite you want to display by going into your character sheet and pressing 'p' like you would to change your appearance normally. The rest of the stuff, eyes, clothes and whatever are inbetween the 2 sprites.

Depends how far you intend to go with your character and how easy/hard you want things too be, a Cat princess gets 50+ life which is very nice from a long term perspective and only needs <king heart>, just give it more speed through AP and its arguably a better choice that a catsister god.

Though Assuming you want the "optimal pets", Nyarlathotep is one of the highest non scaled enemy and has a great set of magic, bell of termination have 2000 base speed which speaks for itself, mra is fastest mountable but uses flame breath so kirin or Nyarl might be a better ride choice.

In the end every non-scaled enemy gets outdated the higher you get, and unless you're extremely diligent in training them/giving potential potions and the like, dominating panic quest monsters then evolving them is the best you can get, but is not needed if your ultimate goal is to only do the main south tyris quest or beat the chaos fort boss's.

I can't really recommend anything as I've got so high that everything other than panic quest stuff seems weak, maybe pick something that looks good from here.

Yeah, everything in Lesimas is pretty much there forever, except for the last floor which despite being a static floor wipes everything when you leave. Big Daddies aren't rare enough that you need to remember every one, though.

Haven't seen stuff with 4 #'s for skills yet in my short time in the new Elona Plus version, but pickpocket stuff does show up on equipment now. Name scrolls are all over the place, too. I guess that's nice for people that want to put a ton of effort into living weps. Its a bug in English mode, all the effects are displayed as +1 but only the first one is actually +1. If you select any of the others and check the weapon you'll see the actual effect it got, the effects display correctly in Japanese mode.

I was making an attempt at the newest main quest but can't figure out if the dungeons haven't been added yet for part 3. I managed to brutalize most of the NPCs I ran into, except for Sophia. I had to save scum a couple times to kill the wizard in the blimp since he kept suiciding by releasing mana for 15k damage on low health.

I actually thought it was nice to pick up arm or neck slots before I bothered with too many arms. You really need those to boost your accuracy. Picking up a 2nd hand earlier would be nice if you go pick up the shield tonfa for the damage boost on it.

It's nice to have around for later, but you're probably not going to be able to get something really strong to low enough health to capture it. It looks like you're playing Plus, so you could luck out with a Xeren satellite unit and poison. Blood golems are 77, and are great tanks with natural cut damage defense. Keep in mind that you're going to need to gene engineer slots into some races, since they barely come with anything otherwise. You could look through the "NPCs by level" category in the Elona wiki to find something low enough level to be safe.

No kidding. If you are going to play the character for the long haul I would say no especially in elona+. It was my first serious character (all rounder mage/preformer, 'bard') after a few 30 hour trial runs. After the very beginning and for intermediate playing they were pretty strong though. I started a new gene somewhere around 400 hours of play time.
Not saying it can't work at all. Just annoying as anything that wants to use weapons unless you want to take the flying penalty after using a kit or gambling with material scrolls.

The only thing I could imagine is using wizard mode, then turning it off and fixing your name with Elosnack. You can also fix the nickname with the new mutation spell, which loads you up a new one. I've had to do this constantly before after accidentally saving after using wizard mode to check monster stats.

I've also heard of people using moongates, but you'd have to find someone that knows what one someone set up for infinite wishes. It's still cheating as much as the previous option, but other people's opinions about whether you should or not shouldn't influence anyone.

The spellbook can be reserved at the spell writer in the mages guild, a 3 charge book costs 16800 gold (with the negotiation I have at least).

You can simply cast the spell on something that cant be dominated endlessly to level it, I use Gwen the pitiless as it doesn't give pop-up asking if you're sure you want to attack her.

When trying to dominate something that is constantly attacking you or too high to dominate, I lower its health until I can sandbag it at which point I can keep dominating it until my spell levels up to the point where it works. You need to bring lots of book and food for this.

I have a pair of gloves that has the attribute, "grants you the trick of pickpocketing."
However, when I press a to use that skill, it's not in the list. I'm guessing I have to learn the skill by joining the Thieves' Guild first? Man, equipment shouldn't lie like that.
