I'm a pretty regular college student that just hides these things from his peer group. The weird thing is that it doesn't work for escapism at all. It's a lot like ordinary daydreaming except that there are several aspects added to make it further one's self-development. I've only been doing it for a week or so, but after only a few sessions I could wake up in the morning when before I would sleep until noon or something woke me up. I think with more practice it might lead to something like a tulpa (since the whole point is to talk with unconscious parts of yourself) but the book I read warned that overdoing it could lead to insanity.

For escapism I'm trying to learn relaxation techniques, self-hypnosis, visualization exercises and tai chi to increase the vividness of my imagination. Right now it's like I see the things I imagine through a dark fog but I've read that with practice anyone can improve their imagination to the point that it is completely convincing and clear.
