I`m currently learning Japanese, and have learned all of the Hiragana, but now do not know what to do. I started looking at Kanji, and it seems like I have to leanr about two thousand? And they all have two readings, right? How do I learn these? And am I doing the right thing after learning Hiragana? Thanks.

>two readings

Haha, no. Even if you don't count 名乗り, many will still have more than 4-5 readings

Okay, I haven`t gotten that far into it yet, so I didn`t know that, can you give me any advice as to what to do? Thanks.

Why are you asking "How do I learn ***"?

The same fucking way you learn anything else; study and practice.

No, am I doing it right by going to Kanji now, and learning them one by one. Is this the best thing to do after finishing Hiragana?

What? Gotten how far into it? The most simple kanji tend to have the largest amount of readings. Like 後 - あと、 のち、 うしろ、 しり、 ゴ、 おくれ、 おくれる ...

he means on and kun readings. Gosh, why everyone of you is so troll/plain stupid?

Oh, on the list I was going through, it started with ones that all had two readings...

And I didn`t know that I should learn katakana now, that`s why I asked.

You totally sound like someone incapable of learning a foreign language, but oh well. I suggest you get yourself a good textbook, I personally used "Basic kanji book" at first, and it helped me a lot, I think it's a great book for a beginner for learning kanji. Don't forget to get something like Genki (or whatever they use nowadays) for more general topics.

>> No.1058139

>>1058126
Nope, they just gave you the most common readings, for it'd difficult for a beginner to learn all of them at once (also, some of them aren't used that often to begin with)

>> No.1058162

>>1058122
All right, if you put it this way, the answer is still no. Some kanji only have on reading, some only have kun reading, some have both on reading and kun reading, and also nanori, so the amount of different types of readings can vary between 1 to 3.

>> No.1058157

Don't bother learning Japanese, you won't get anywhere if you're making a thread asking how.

>> No.1058185

So someone can`t learn a language if they ask whether they should learn kanji or katakana first? Gotcha...

Boy, you trolls in /jp/ really must not have much good stuff to rage at if you need to get mad at this... Just giving a fucking answer would get the thread down sooner.

So long as we're on the same page.

Seriously, this is not much different than "Should I learn words before letters?"
...which is a fucking abysmal that it had to be asked.
