I imported the PSP version of Violet, because (1) PSP is region free, so I can in theory play it, and (2) unlike Judie, it was still in stock. However, I haven't gotten very far, because I don't read Japanese very well. It does have some interesting features, like you can synthesize tools that are needed for later synthesis, without being consumed. Not really, the other 3 had some advertisements in Anime magazines and even in EGM and PLAY (US version). Even then NISA used the Prinny News Blast to make sure that everyone knew it was coming out, usually 3 months or so before release.

So they had targeted advertising directly at their audience. This time, the only thing I've heard is that people aren't going to buy it because of a lack of Japanese voice track.

I'm just worried that this series will be Sengoku Basara'd (Or franchise of your choice): where a publisher releases a half-assed copy of a game, with no advertising and no support; it sells poorly then the publisher refuses to bring over the rest of the series because it failed to meet sales expectations and the fanbase is to small to support.

It'll kill me because this is a decent series with good sales and a great fanbase and I don't want it to die because of stupidity. That and I can't stand Compile Heart RPGs, they switch from mediocre to terrible, but it's they're the only home console RPGs that are coming over lately.

It's actually preceded by the older Atelier series, Atelier Marie, which is supposed to take place in different parts of the same setting every now and then, but the original three were like, different settings, I think. The original game was set to be a Playstation killer app, but it never came out of Japan as the company was too new and young for that.

It became a big hit in Japan to the point it was ported everywhere and had many versions for an old home console game.

That's all there is to it, they just evolved the gameplay while you weren't looking.

I kind of liked it. The music is still very good, which is the primary reason for playing it. The story might be a bit weaker than before, but at least Saki and Finnel are way better characters than Luca (backstabbing slut) and Cloche (annoying whiner). The gameplay isn't that good (fuck you, "3D" fighting) compared to AT2, but this is balanced by eye-candy and strip scenes.

And the worst part is it could EASILY have been so much better. I wanted to make a perfect undub that would be final. But since AT2 is getting a retranslation (which I completely forgot about), it may not even last a few months before getting outdated. So now I think that the right thing to do is helping fan translators make an "ideal ISO" instead of rereleasing NISA undub now and rereleasing fan undub shortly afterwards.
Besides, both official AT2s are already optimized for optical media according to Sony's guidelines, an author of >>10521285 undub copied the ISO layout of these and made the ISO in the Sony's CD-DVD Generator mastering software used for retail PS2 games, so there's not much for me to fix (the patch of undub ISO, if I was to make it, would take less than a megabyte compressed not giving any improvements even to DVD-R users).
