Same here. I'd like to have copies of all of the doujin albums that I download, but the prices are outrageous. Last time I checked, Demetori's C83 release would cost me half a tank of gas. I'm not paying that for three songs!

>> No.10507440

The last thing I bought was Spore. It wouldn't let me play it because I had to do something online in order to run game files on the disc in my computer, and I didn't have an internet connection at the time.

Later I just downloaded a cracked version and it worked fine. I agree with >>10507406 though in that it's nice to have a physical copy of something. Similarly I've bought music albums and then pirated them, because I trust the pirates to know more about ripping and encoding than I do.

Realistically? Somewhere over 200 thousand maybe even more. I started with the swap disc on the ps2, but around the time the 360 and ps3 got modded, I had almost every game worth playing downloaded in some sort of fever dream where I would sometimes only play a game for a few hours before jumping to the next.

The best part of it was unlike most pirating which limits you to singleplayer and makes a lot of games useless, pirating on the 360 let you play everything online which made a decent amount of meh to ok games really fun.

I mostly pirate doujin music so I've probably saved thousands in import costs. I do own two physical doujin albums though

The last game I bought was some small mahjong game for dirt cheap on Amazon because I couldn't find a download for it. Other than that the last game I bought was so long ago that I can't even remember exactly when I bought it. It was Serious Sam: BFE when it first came out. The last game I downloaded was Borderlands 2 and good thing I didn't buy it because I didn't like it as much as the first one at all and it would have been a waste. and sells it burned onto disc. And they're one of a great many countries that are like that.

I'm a software guy myself and even I view it as "well if the money isn't there, how would they even pay me? fuck it"

If anybody reeeeally wanted to stop piracy rather than sell DRM and nortons and legal services to other corporate queers, they'd just use stego to stick in randomized serial numbers. Or in software, use the same kind of nonsense they use to "obfuscate" code to sneak random serial numbers into the object code. Then you could call the cops on whoever cracked and shared their copy, no need to sue 1337 people for their narutos or whatever.

And everybody knows this already, people are just farting around bein' stupid as usual.

“Piracy”
Publishers often refer to copying they don't approve of as “piracy.” In this way, they imply that it is ethically equivalent to attacking ships on the high seas, kidnapping and murdering the people on them. Based on such propaganda, they have procured laws in most of the world to forbid copying in most (or sometimes all) circumstances. (They are still pressuring to make these prohibitions more complete.)

If you don't believe that copying not approved by the publisher is just like kidnapping and murder, you might prefer not to use the word “piracy” to describe it. Neutral terms such as “unauthorized copying” (or “prohibited copying” for the situation where it is illegal) are available for use instead. Some of us might even prefer to use a positive term such as “sharing information with your neighbor.”

The problem is that publishers want games to be treated as physical goods in terms of copyrights, but not in terms of their quality. You can't return a game or a music CD because their contents are shit.
tl;dr jews

Modern pirates just rob the ship and leave, don't they? They're fisher guys, only doing it because they've got boats but there's no fish, or at least that's what I've been led to believe.

Anyway nobody's advocating stringing people up for loading a few mp3's or movies without paying.

Maybe around 1000€ when it comes to music, plenty of the music that I listen to is free anyways.
About 400-500€ when it comes to movies
I have no idea about animu and mango
I buy most of my games, but I'd say that Ive saved around 500-700€ when it comes to that. Not counting in games that I first pirated and ended up buying afterwards for whatever reason.
