You definitely do not want to do that, they don't care much for anime-style dolls there and the userbase is almost entirely composed of sad old christmas cakes. There's also never any actual discussion in any of the threads which is kind of disturbing to me for some reason. In every thread the OP will ask a question like "Do you carry your dolls out in public?" or "Do you think dolls have souls?" and everyone will post their own opinion/experience without reading or responding to anyone else's, which makes it seem like everyone is just talking to themselves.

The DD base models are the cheapest way to get a doll with facepaint, and a body.

Buying a doll individually may end up costing more, if only for the commission fee for having face-up done. That, and buying the body parts separately is a hassle because Volks is often out of stock of the body parts.

You can find DD's pretty cheap on mandarake, so check there as well.

Has anyone else noticed that if you put a mid length shaggy curl cream wig like Volks W121D-16T on a Mariko-sensei doll she would look almost exactly like Himawari from Vividred Operation?
The white skin, the shapely L bust would be perfect.

As you can see in the video, they are bendable and have ability to pose. I suspect that they either use wire or metal skeletal with joints like RealDoll.

It's metal wire and silicon. The silicon attracts dust and degrades over time. Those are really expensive doll bodies and they won't last nearly as long as a DDII body.

I think they're neat for the novelty of a non-jointed doll that looks like it walked out of an anime. But I love playing with and posing my dolls.

Your body looks great- better than any I've done. But you really need to work on that head. Eyes should start halfway down the head. You're going to need more forehead, if for nothing else than you need room for a wig.

I'm assuming the head will look more proportionate once the headcap is in place but it seems a tad large. Also, it could be the camera angle but the legs look a bit short, or the torso is too long: The distance from the hip joint to the knee should be about the same distance or longer than the distance to the armpit.

Dollheart was a bit of a pain to deal with. They didn't tell me when my order had shipped, nor did they inform me that the shoes I ordered were out of stock. DDs are made of a soft vinyl, kind of like a... rubber duck? material over a PVC frame. They can be cuddled, but they're a bit hard for it, imho. Other than that the silicone girls are soft and squishy, but break easily even through light cuddling.

DD and Azone 1/3 dolls are firm vinyl (sort of like rubberized plastic) save the torsos on some. and the resin SD dolls are ... well... resin.

1/6 dolls might as well be action figures with clothes and hair

No she's an L bust, which is still significantly smaller than the Dynamites. In my experience some of the materials volks uses are polyester but do not give much. Don't expect a stress-free fit.
