In a high school AU Marisa would be the class clown that nevertheless gets top grades. Reimu is the slacker that also gets top grades (she and Marisa alternate being the top student). While Reimu is just naturally smart, Marisa studies a lot when nobody's watching.

Alice and Patchouli are run of the mill nerds. Alice at least tries to be nice to people (not realizing that she freaks them out with her hobbies) while Patchouli is completely antisocial.

Sanae is a transfer student with geeky tastes, but under a lot of pressure by her family to be the top student. Youmu is the socially awkward kendo club captain and Sakuya is a seemingly impecable classy girl who loves trolling people without them noticing.
