I just got around to playing that last year. Couldn't be assed to import a Saturn (though that's the version of the game I actually own), so I was really glad to see that the translation community had made the voice patch compatible for the raw version.

Even though that game is really old, it didn't feel like it too much besides some classic conventions. Though I was kind of overwhelmed by the last portion, it's still one of the most memorable and complete games out there. Look forward to Mio's route in particular, imo that was the best one. Mio is also an outstanding character (though, every character in that game is really.)

Can you guys recommend a good vn with a non beta intelligent protag, where your choices actually make a difference? I played G-Senjou but didn't like it that much because of the holes in the story and it's really convenient and way too unrealistic at times. Worst thing for me is the protag doesn't seem to do anything at all most of the time. The slice of life and comedy stuff was below average too imo. It was good as a whole though.

The ones I'm thinking currently are Sharin no Kuni, Tsukihime, Watashi ni koishinasai but I can't really see if they would be good. I've previously only played Cross+Channel(really liked it) and a few older ones like Bible black Dividead years ago.

Considering August's popularity, it will probably get one, or at least get ported to some other system, which I'm hoping gives Takigawa and Shirasaki's sister routes.

They could also give regular sized routes to the sub heroines too, but to be honest I'm pretty happy with their short and sweet routes as they are right now.

Incidentally, Dear Smile (sub heroine ending song) is ridiculously catchy and the Tricolour Trio version even more. Actually, all the vocal songs definitely ring to my way, though the rest of the soundtrack is mostly eh.

I think every NTR scene in YU-NO was supposed to piss you off though.

It seemed like they kind of up to the player to forgive that character/situation.
For instance, Mio leaned on Yuuki but she didn't really have anywhere else to go. Compared to every one else in the game, she actually seemed like a normal girl. Or in Kanna's case, taking the extenuating circumstances into account when they laid down the guilt during the last part of her route, then proceeded to kill her, I ended up sympathizing for her and overlooked the whole thing. Ayumi and Mitsuki on the other hand were like what in the hell, I think they only let it happen in Ayumi's route as a plot device, but I thought that she was a bit pathetic. That was TOTALLY made up for in the last scene in her route, that bad ending where she says she read Koudai's letter (I teared the fuck up during that one), while Mitsuki is kind of excused for being brainwashed, but also Ryuuzouji being the fucking boss that he is.

But yeah, unlike the regular stuff, I thought it directed the player's emotions exactly where they should have been when said content came up, so I didn't mind it (while that stuff usually will deter me from playing a game unless it's a scenario game, though, YU-NO is just that). Or possibly I was okay with it because it was old and fresh, I loved the style of that game so much playing it in the mid 2000s.

Something I found nice was in Euphoria, in the CG view mode you had a bunch of H voice clips to play while you view any CG. So you could play clips from h-scenes that didn't correspond to the CG, clips from completely different girls, etc. There might have even been completely new voice clips not from the h-scenes in there, I'm not sure.

I've finished Kazusa's route on the PS3 version and scanned over the PC contents to see what I had missed. My opinions really haven't changed from >>10473868

I'd advise anyone to buy and play the PC version first, and then if you're dedicated enough to buy the PS3 version afterwards. In my case, I pirated the PC version after the PS3 one was announced and I put my preorder on it. The PC version is much more definitive. That being said, if you're enough of a fan to buy the same game twice, the consolidated preorder bonuses and auxillary content is there, and the extra episode in the PS3 version is on par with all of Coda. Rather, I think that was my favorite part of all of the end contents, I wasn't leaning towards Setsuna until after that (didn't really like her route that much). Thus I'd encourage anyone who's played the game to find it on Nico and watch it at least.

Also Kazusa's route was really fucking rough. Thematically consistent and all, also Haruki manning the fuck up was refreshing, but in retrospect I really wish I left the game with Setsuna true instead. WA2 was a pretty good game, not even remotely close to my favorite Maruto game, but definitely one of the most memorable and impactful games I've played. Though I usually stay away from drama oriented games, if it's of this calibre and quality, I really don't mind. I'll be warmly waiting for his next title (however, I hope it's back to Curio/Parfait, or NG this time around).

That's a really difficult to answer. In his major titles, the setting and characters are so radically different. Curio, and much of Parfait (though certainly not all) was about charming, heart warming pure innocent love interactions, Kanako and Rikako's drama I think still falls under that category as well. But then NG is still about love, a good portion pure love, but it's also got it's modern setting, and interactions and overcoming issues existing in society made that game remarkably relaxing. NG also had some pretty intricate and convincing character design that you really don't see much of. However, Parfait and Curio were also very relaxing. Then, WA2 is totally different, still pure love, but focuses so much on the drama and pain of it all. Still heartwarming at times, still very intricate character designs and strong interactions, but relaxing? No, I didn't think so.

So the reason this question is difficult to answer is because the kind of charage he makes changes, while he consistently makes outright great characters. If I were to answer this directly, I would say I think that WA2 is his best game, Setsuna is his masterpiece character. However, it doesn't compare well to other works, thus even though I think and can recognize that, Midori is still my favorite character he's ever made, I love the hell out of Ema and Asuka, and NG is my favorite game by him.
