No one complains when something is unfair in YOUR favour. That being said, I actually miss Saudi and the UAE. Women are more modest, homely and gentle there. The thing is that most men that do that kind of thing actually enjoy it to some extent, and most women wouldn't give that much of a shit if they didn't, besides the minority of absolute cunts that they'd be better without anyway. There aren't really that many people that feel like giving gifts to a loved one is a huge burden. And for those that it is actually a burden the other party usually knows that and doesn't expect it.

Also sometimes you get relationships where a wealthy woman is with a not so wealthy man where it winds up being the exact opposite. My dad was in that situation at one point, got all kinds of expensive gifts and she didn't really expect anything in return.
