What's up with anime versions of VNs sucking when it's the first in a series?
Umineko
Fate/Stay Night what the hell does that title even mean
Chaos;Heads
And so many others

I want to talk about what makes first VNs in a series so...complex to adapt in something else than a VN. Why is the VN the superior version each time when it's the first in a series. Let's reflect on what makes VNs great, then deduce the logical conclusions.

It's a lot to cram into not enough episodes and it misses out on the fun of your choices affecting the story.

Also the Fs/n anime in particular did a really shitty job of making the fights as cool as they should've been.

Hell, you could just take that and make it work for any VN adaptation, or even go so far as to say "Most adaptations don't properly reflect the source material."

Oh wait, we knew that already.

Nah, I'm kidding. You have a solid point though, anime adaptations of visual novels with multiple routes (Excluding Bad/Dead ends, of course.) tend to make the mistake of trying to mush all the content into the "main" route, generally making it a clusterfuck.

But we've had this thread a thousand times before, and it always comes to "Most adaptations do not completely match the source material. Visual Novels, along with other mediums with multiple story paths, suffer greatly as the condensation of information tends to result in inconsistencies and rushed plotlines."

It doesn't matter if this is in /a/ or /jp/. People will respond to it the exact same way, telling them to leave.

>Why is the VN the superior version each time when it's the first in a series.
I am honestly not following you. The original medium is generally speaking superior due to the commonly inherent quality loss from transitioning from one medium to another.

But how "series" or whatever matter into the equation I have no idea. Can't say I am following you.

Chaos;Head would of worked if it was 18-24 episodes and paced accordingly. and I do kinda want to see it re-done if only because I like the MC

I presume this is the problem with most lower-budge or first time adaptations
