Besides, the character polls is a huge galvanization for the fandom. It gives it something to discuss and build off of.

Two or three years ago Yuka shot out of nowhere into #3. Last year Kasen went from #60+ (hanging out with Aki sisters) to #26, beating even Suika by a lot.

With a book released that give new perspective to many characters, there's plenty that could shift. Not to mention Kosuzu.

I'm somewhat glad. The last thing I want to see is Ichirin being in the top 5. I would rather wait for 2013 so that everyone who makes an appearance in 13.5 will have a fair chance, and so that the results wouldn't be as disgusting.

As for a western poll, voter turnout would probably be low. Gathering enough attention for it would be the other problem.

We had Forbidden Scrollery start in October 2012, Symposium of Post-mysticism came out in late April, and we're moving into full swing into religious conflict in HM, opening way to speculation. Also, TD came out in late 2011 so the characters didn't have time to really settle into the fandom at large for the last poll. How does none of that count for anything?

Last year the Seimoe ran by Suzuran went without much incident though, and they even managed to catch the cheaters (in Flandre vs Nue)

Participants were in the low hundreds though with this daily rounds format participation started to weaken toward the end since lots of people abandoned it once their favorite waifu lost.
