I remember some gaijin who was visiting japan would always get made fun of for how fat he is among the japanese but in the west he would be considered average. Likewise, people in the west would see some of the girls in japan and think they are anorexic when they consider themselves to be average.

the japanese view of being fat is different from how the west sees it
