´I dropped this shit.

This show's context is absolutely retarded beyond belief.

I used to see the whole "kyoanus lickers" as a joke, but 3 episodes in on this show have proven me that this supposed joke, is in reality a very proven fact.

If you are enjoying this, you definitely like to eat shit by the spoon.

I still have hope that KyoAni goes back to the golden days of Haruhi and FMP, but judging by what's seen today... it becomes less and less lightly to ever happen.

Honestly, japanese artstyle is much better but there are so many western stories with superior and intersting plot instead of stuff like this.
I don't even watch anime anymore because of completly unbelieveable plot and character progression.

And if they manage to make a interesting premise like Sword Art online they ruin it all with shitty plot

I love how anal and bitter people get when the issue of age/join date appears. Everyone always defends themselves and doubles their layers of irony.

One of the things I said was good to moot in 2003 when we were on Raspberry Heaven IRC together was that an anonymous board would stop the circlejerking on SA about who has the earliest regdate (e.g. mine was 2000). Now it's malironic because everyone on 4chan just tries to pretend they were here in 2010 to fit in. Meanwhile the actually oldbies are on IRC and >implying/>mfw/>tfw/whatevering it up.

I was probably one of the worst typists in the channel, since I tend to truncate my sentences when I want to type quickly in a conversation.

for example
I would type like this
it helps get my message across in a timely and active fashion

I think the only time I've used emoticons if typing to my sister when I don't really want to say anything specific but need to respond. I guess that's exactly it: emoticons seem like a cop-out on typing something useful.

Why, though? Some abbreviations and emoticons are genuinely useful. They are used by old hackers and programmers and have been for decades. I guess 4chan has that mindset where something becomes uncool if a certain group of people use it or popularize it, but I don't see why you would apply that anywhere else. Case in point, the Jargon File:
http://catb.org/jargon/html/go01.html

Full of abbreviations that are actually used. Same with the Internet Users' Glossary:
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1392
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1983

Not to mention countless netiquette guides.

I understand wanting to write properly but I always think this sort of elitism is misguided. The only reason I can think for it is, "Oh, those people on some message board do it, therefore it's ruined!"
If I want to write a joke and it risks being misinterpreted as serious, I will add a ":-)" to the end. I'm not going to sacrifice brevity or add some catchphrase that ruins the joke ("pun intended!") because people on AOL or Gaia or Reddit happen to use the same three characters.

>I guess 4chan has that mindset

This has absolutely nothing to do with a supposedly "4chan mindset" / influence.
I speak for myself on this matter at hand, so I cannot voice a general opinion on the matter; however in what relates to my situation, the answer lies simply in a key word, "preference".
I have always set out my preference to avoid any abbreviations & all types of slang whatsoever while typing in the internet through out the years, dating back to early 1998.
I am a responsible adult and therefor I impose myself to deliver my statements on this form; as I also expect them to be treated with a admirable eye and attention.
For the matter at hand, I for one also wished that more people in the current day and age would take their time to type a sentence properly instead of simply dishing out combinations of letters that make them look as if they have no cultural background whatsoever. But alas, the reality we live in is one that such a dream will never come to fruition.

>>10402088
>I am a responsible adult and therefor I impose myself to deliver my statements on this form; as I also expect them to be treated with a admirable eye and attention.

That's why I take fault with it. People in their fifties with PhDs don't think this way, only twentysomethings who feel emoticons and abbreviations are for people three years younger than them do. It's a desperate attempt to appear grown-up and intelligent, when intelligent grown-ups just take it easy. There is a functional purpose for jargon and smiley faces, but people who have a kneejerk bitter reaction to ":-)" are trying to ruin it.
"LOL" is another good example because it's fairly recent. It's nice to say, "That was amusing," without appearing like a sarcastic cunt ("That was hilarious!", "I am laughing", "Very funny") or being over-the-top ("MY SIDES HAVE LEFT ORBIT"). It's a functional and useful little neologism that serves a worthwhile purpose, but bitter nerds get offended by it since people on FACEBOOK or on FORUMS (4chan is never a forum to these people) use "LOL".

I get that you can take this thinking too far, but I think people should be more tolerant. One emoticon doesn't mean you're typing like a retard in the same way people who make their posts in greentext list format do, it just means you're adding something similar to a word to change the tone of what you wrote, in lieu of body language or tone of voice.

Also, to this day I find it humorous how the intellectually inadequate need to puff up their metaphorical chests by busting out the thesaurus and injecting otherwise simple posts with a serious case of WORDS, sort of like what I'm doing right now.
