My friend got a new computer for Christmas and all he does anymore is play WoW on private servers. For the first few weeks it was CS and TF2, GB, TrackMania, or any of the games we regularly play. Ever since that computer though, he's become addicted to WoW. He's always on AIM but never responds or takes hours to respond, so I haven't been going on often. He always goes back to that game and it annoys me talking to him because he always brings it up and talks about it and nothing else. He told me he even donated to the server (and then laughed that he thought 15 Euro would be 15 USD) which I guess goes to show how far he's willing to go for it. The more I stop sharing interests with him, the more I seem to dislike him. His spelling errors, grammar errors, and general stupidity used to simply annoy me before, but now they make me angry.

I'm probably going to not be on AIM for a few months and use my alternative Steam account which has a cute name and a cute girl for an avatar.

I have a similar story about the last friend I had. Knew him since elementary school and on up into high, he was my best friend although I was only in his top 2 or 3. We played a ton of video games together though and it felt good even for a loner type like me, probably because he was borderline autistic which allowed us to "click." After he started getting big on WoW he just wasn't the same and we stopped talking for long periods of time, maybe one conversation over aim a month. Haven't spoken to him in about 3 months now and haven't seen him in person in years even though we live in the same town.

My story is kinda reversed to you guys'.
I had a group of weird friends from elementary school that stuck together out of protection and similar interests. Then some infighting began near the end and one of my best friends backstabbed the other, causing him to go to a different highschool.

So I ended up going to my originally planned HS anyway with the backstabber, I looked over it because I couldn't afford to go it alone. A few other distant friends went there but most parted ways. Those of us remaining regrouped.

Eventually we found some new guys amidst us and a year later, the original guys transferred schools for one reason or another. This left me surrounded by normals, and my best friend was the worst of them; every social trend he was in on. It was disgusting.

So then halfway through HS I started secluding myself except when it was necessary. Near the end I stopped talking to them at all.

After graduation I dropped off the radar completely. Their interests were too different.
Sometime later I looked them up and they all split up to do normalfag stuff.
One even impregnated some harlot and had to work a shit job to support their child while funding a marriage.

I don't know about therapy since I've never had any despite having been offered it numerous times. I've been on 4 different meds, though, and they aren't nearly as bad as people say. SSRIs aren't much better than placebo but the other ones can actually help you. I'm on bupropion at the moment and it has made me more energetic and confident than I've been in years.

I don't think there is anything wrong with taking meds if you need them. I have bipolar disorder and the meds really helped me stabilize my moods.

I don't stay up for days on end, I don't have violent episodes anymore, I don't drink anymore, and I take it easy all day every day.

I officially became a NEET in December after graduating high school earlier 2012. I had the ability to enroll into a state uni right after with a full ride state scholarship program, but I wanted to "take a break" from school for a while. Terrible decision. Now I'm attached to this lifestyle of doing nothing and sitting in my room all day, sleeping over 12 hours at a time. My mother has even gotten me hooked on disability under SSI funds thanks to my scoliosis, missing lung and kidney, keratoconus, and other health problems, so I get a lot of help with the NEETbux which only encourages this behavior I've developed. Just enough to get a shitty apartment if I really had to continue on this way out of my parents' house.

I'm not sure if this is the direction I want to go in life despite how easy and relaxed I could take it from here. I still kind of want to go through the whole college thing and maybe find someone, but then again a strong part of me would rather keep doing what I'm doing now. I can pool money and also indulge in some luxuries as well.

Basically, it's either have a relaxed mediocre life of simplicity, or go and stick my neck out in this dog-eat-dog society.

You go to your GP and tell him you've been having problems and would like to see a psychiatrist. Then he makes an appointment for you with your local NHS Trust. You'll probably see a psychiatrist for one or two sessions and get some sort of a preliminary diagnosis. After that, you will be referred to a specialist service for proper diagnosis/treatment, or to some sort of counsellor or social worker who will help you manage your problems and reintegrate into society. After that you can ask to see a psychiatrist or doctor again if you want their opinion on something, or if you would like medicine.

My biggest qualm with medicine is that I don't like the idea of being dependent on it. For a few years I took SSRIs, and whenever I stopped it was awful. I applied to college a few days ago after 2 years of being a NEET.
