I'm currently waiting on my replacement graphics card to come in the mail (faulty sapphire HD 7870), so I can't start anything just yet but there's something I wanted to ask.

How would I go about creating my own models for MMD/ 3DCG? Also I am new to the usage of these programs, so I'm wondering if I should spend time just getting the hang of the basic functions instead.

I've taken a look at the 3DCG wiki, and saw tso2pmd on the mod creation page. Is this what most people use to create their models in MMD or do they make them completely separate from 3DCG?

Anyone know how to generate .tbn files for background slots in 3dcg?
Can't generate those via tdcgexplorer and modifying existing tbns using a hex editor seems buggy, because they have settings for camera effects and such. Makes the app crash.

Am I the only one that actually still plays this game for the Hmode? I used to edit body proportions using TSO2PMD with a ton of settings I got from someone, then overwrite the TPOConfig.xml in my TMOproportions folder. But I always found that modifying certain proportions would fuck up the alignment with the male during Hmode. I always knew this would be obvious though for changing certain proportions, but there are still some very confusing results for reasons I do not understand even though I've been making new proportion edits for 2 years now.

Is there no real way to test out your proportions besides doing it the hard way, or at least fix the alignment in the game for certain Hmodes? The main problems I always have are with the males penis not lining up with females crotch, and the model not lying flat on its back in the missionary position, and a couple of other things.

Is there a youtube tutorial that explains how to merge parts of a PMD file with another PMD file in PMDeditor? I thought I knew how to do it, but I guess I don't know which bones, joints, etc I'm supposed to delete and keep on the parts I'm trying to put on other models.

You delete everything from the model and keep only what you want. Save that as a PMD. Open the base. Drag the PMD and import the model, it should overlap your base. You can move it on your base where you want. Just save the base pmd and it'll save the item you imported. No need for a video tut.

Does anyone here have experience ripping from TEATIME games for MMD? I have all the tools I need (I think), but I seem to have a problem getting ALP files to ODF format. I open the file in notepad and save as ODF, but the converter says the file is incomplete when I try to convert it.

The ALP files are characters I've downloaded from Tamzone. I put the ALP files in the game's files and I can get the characters in the game so I assumed I would just have to convert those to ODF.

- Capture a scene in 3D Ripper DX
- Import it into a 3D model program and export the character
- Rig everything in pmd/pmxeditor

Lip syncing is easy as HELL. Here's how to lip sync. Make a fist and put it under your chin. Say the lines out loud, drop a keyframe (A/あ) every time your mouth opens. You now have basic lip syncing, if you want to go into detail with your i/e/o/and u"s just go back and replace the keyframe あ with one more appropriate for the word like an E for the word "hEy". Questions?
