This. I truly love Touhou and all, but I hate when people try to make it into something big, revolutionary and unique like it's so fucking special. Or even worse; when they try to be all fun and clever about how Touhou is so crazy and random because it has different themes and focus compared to most game series in the genre.

It's just a game series, it's just another of thousands active subcultures around the globe. I love it personally, but I'm aware that's just because of who I am and the interests I have.

It's like Greek Myth. Lots of stories and all the characters have really basic relationships that people can explore and relate with the characters.

There are many things like Touhou, where people act the same way and produce the same kind of content; I don't know the word for it. As long as the person is creating something with it, rather than using it as a status symbol or to conform to a group then it's fine.
