Not great but decent, to be honest. It's more interesting than their previous one, but in this game, quite literally every basic aspect relies on luck. Unlike DoD and GoS, where it was mostly luck, and it was only for unnecessary things like overpowered items/shikigami that you don't need, this game is pretty much all luck where you've got to grind and pray that you get a card so you can synthesize cards to get more slots to be able to change them, because you won't be getting far with level 5 monsters. But hey, it's an RPG, so luckily I didn't expect much more. On the other hand, it's got interesting dungeons, and I would be lying if I said that it wasn't fun, though.

to evolve them most of them have the same patterns, its not a random combination. typical ones are 2 evo + element all connected, and 3 evo in the middle of a straight line with 2 elements on the end.

Elements give resistances.
The stats are
HP MP
ATK MTK ACC
DEF RES EVA
MAGIC RESISTS
PHYSICAL RESISTS

So, there's no point on putting elements on monsters unless you're specifically trying to beat a group of mobs that use that element.

You can upgrade the magic faerie to be a Lv7 offensive mage of fire, lightning, or water with an evolution badge and an element adjacent to it.
Faeries with sword/axe/lance can be upgraded with 2 evolution badges and one attack badge across one line (left/right or up/down, doesn't matter).
Can you post a screenshot of your card list, and specify which ones have more than 2 slots in a row?

Also, if memory serves; Youmu's the second boss right? If you use a Kedama, give it HP badges and have it use its no cost AoE buff. It's barrier, lasts only for the turn it is used, but reduces all physical damage taken by 80%

Rough translation of the few kanji I actually know teehee.

Quick guide:
Elemental badges boost resistance to that element based on level of badge. So they're mostly used for combination purposes. You should only put them on a monster if you're having to negate a weakness. "Oh my buru is weak to fire! I'll give it a fire badge." (they don't stack; only the highest level badge is active)

For resistances: X is bad. O is good.

For evolutions: Only badges in a line combine.

General rules:
1 or 2 evolution badges with another badge on top (or side).
2 evolution badges with one badge on either/both sides.
3 evolution badges with two badges on either/both side.
1 evolution badge on each corner
1 evolution badge on each corner and 1 badge in the middle.

Kedamas are those little fuzzy balls... some people call them FOE. You can get them in the first area, I'm pretty sure.

You can make Lv11's with most of your stuff given that you have at least two slots adjacent.

You can combine cards to get more slots on the main menu; fourth option from the bottom.

Because 'shiny badge' doesn't explain anything, let me help you. That badge increases the EXP you gain in battle. For the effect to work though, the monster needs to be in battle when it ends.
So if you equip it to monsters A and B, if either of them is on the field when the battle ends, you will gain bonus EXP. I'm not sure if it stacks though, need someone to test it.

You can enter these codes in the vending machine at the shrine, and don't worry about breaking the game, even though it eases a bit until you get the midtier badges naturally.
As for the boss, try going for the monsters' weaknesses, try and fail as much as you'd like. If you're having trouble keeping your monsters alive, put Reimu as master and abuse Heal.
...I don't mean this in a bad way, but you realize you can switch the two monsters in the field at any time, right? If one of them dies you can just summon another from your party with the X button during the master's turn.
Felt like pointing this out since there's no tutorial of sorts and not everyone can read japanese.
