I never saw myself wearing glasses but it was inevitable because I didn't want to do anything about it.

Most of the glasses cost would come from the prescription lenses. All those designer frames aren't worth it, I just got the basic model for around ten dollars.
You could probably get a free eye test at some places (even without insurance) which is what I did.
End cost for me was around $300 but that's because I didn't have insurance and I didn't have previous records for lenses.

I started using glasses the same day /jp/ was created. At first I thought it was because I spend a lot of time on the computer but it turned out to be astigmatism or something like that. I've gotten used to using glasses, they do make you look smarter and mature.
A few tips, get at least 2 test done in different places some doctors are shit. Ask for the papers with the TX you need so you can buy glasses from the internet. anti reflex layer ALWAYS do it no matter the price, transitions are cool as HELL if sunlights hurts your eyes, pick a second pair with black tinted glasses if you drive. ALWAYS make sure you like the rims youre about to buy,I've regretted a few in this past years. dont be shy to try em on. Halfrim glasses are HELLa cool. rimless are for queers.

I used to wear rimless for a good 12 years until the screws kept failing and the lenses would wobble to the point that I couldn't use them, had the lenses replaced about 8 times during the time I wore them.

I've tried upper half rims but as I wear my glasses a bit lower on my nose than most people, I get this annoying frame cutting through the my field of vision.

I wear bottom rimmed glasses with transitions now and I love it as my eyes are sensitive to sunlight, my old glasses were all lightly tinted which sometimes resulted problems like not enough tint outdoors, too much tint at night etc.
