I was almost disappointed in Clockup Flowers because the crossfade got me megahyped for a certain part of the song, but it delivered eventually and all was well.

Tentatively the album of the event unless one of the Makina releases on Burning Chrome outdo it (or Murder Channel releases something).

Again I was apprehensive about it being named J-Rave Nation as most of the time doujin releases labelled as Rave music are some for of UK Hardcore rather than Breakbeat Hardcore, which is really what Rave music is associated with. But after JULIANA'S TOHO VOL. 1 TECHNO RAVE PARTY which featured some legit Breakbeat Hardcore and Acid, I had some hope.

I was kind of wrong, the synths and drums for the most part is Hardcore/Hard Trance but there are moments of old school synth patterns reminiscent of 92-95 raves, just not nearly enough. If nothing else I am glad more Doujin producers are heading in this (technically chronologically reverse) direction. Perhaps soon the days of DJ Shimamura being the only person who made Breakbeat Hardcore in Japan will be over, particularly as he's been fully UK Hardcore for ages now.

RADIANCE was alright, Speedball GT was good as well (Massive New Krew are clearly the new best Hardstyle producers around now).

And it seems that finally after 6 or 7 years of Comiket and various other releases, vocalists on electronic touhou arrange albums have finally started to piss me off. Couldn't really enjoy ALiCE'S EMOTiON/Alstroeneria/LiLaC Records because of it. Crossfade of Shibayan is going to have the same problem but the instrumental tracks sound nice.

i don't give a whole lot of thought to genres, to be honest. i usually just go with what the website lists (if applicable) or throw something down to give people an idea while i listen. if you post specific changes that should be made, i would be more than happy to effect them.

In all seriousness though, i used to really dislike vocals on doujin songs and pretty much only listened to instrumentals about 2-3 years ago. Now i can enjoy most vocals just as much as instrumentals, as long as they don't sound shitty/subpar.

Brostep is stuff like Skrillex. Dubstep sounds nothing like it, so if youre hearing high pitched abrasive noises then its brostep. Dubstep is stuff like mid and sub bass and is usually not loud or too random.

I'm actually not sure how I feel about the Tamaonsen album. It's not the dubstep though. I like dubstep just fine.
I guess I might need to listen to it more.

Buta-Otome album was really lack-luster. There's usually at least one good track, but the entire album; the vocals, the instrumentals, even the lyrics sound unfinished. If they had polished it more it might have been a good album, because the arrangements themselves aren't all that bad.
