How do I change the default control from keyboard to my gamepad? I've changed the controls through the profile screen but whenever I pick a character it only shows keyboard. Also none of my buttons register outside of said configuration menu; I can move the cursor with my stick, but none of the buttons do anything.

SoPM confirmed that Yoshika was a poet in life, most likely based on the real Miyako Yoshika (different kanji). In WaHH, Kasen cites one of Yoshika's poems. Because of this, some say Kasen might be connected to Yoshika somehow.

You know, being concerned about timeouts is odd if you're coming from games like IaMP and Soku where the mechanics caused timers to be completely removed. If those games had 99 second timers timing out rounds would be the best way to win.

This game is much more traditional than at least Soku in my opinion because it lacks true flight. You can just look at is as having 6 jump directions instead of 3. There are already easy fullscreen stun combos that will lead to the opponent being at your mercy in the corner with full okizeme. Soku and IaMP even had somewhat silly tech mechanics that let you get out of corner knockdowns. I haven't tested it, as long as this doesn't have any broken teching it should be as hard or harder to get out of the corner compared to either previous game.

For anyone still having problems with their joysticks:

The game always uses button0 or z and button1 or x for ok and cancel in the menu, regardless of what you have mapped. Some controllers map number the buttons in odd orders. The device properties in the control panel has a panel that shows what the numbering is.

The device used in game is determined by which device is used to select the profile before character select. This is displayed below the character portrait.

So, to play with a gamepad, on the select profile screen before the character select screen, you need to press button0 on the gamepad you want to use.
