I was trying to do this with a friend for about an hour yesterday but I kept getting an error that my TH075.exe wouldn't start. Anyone know what could be the problem?

make sure the caster is in the same folder as th075.exe. That is 99% likely your problem

Your problem could be also the folder path having japanese characters. If you have any of those, remove them.

If the caster doesn't start that must mean either Windows is blocking one of your ports and crashing the .exe file. Normally when I first started the caster Windows asked if it should unblock 7500 default port that will be used by the game. Use the Security Center (or what's it called in the English version of your Control Panel) and check how everything is set up there, change it manually if needed.

I'm the guy who maintains CowCaster and I find this problem you're having confusing. It _looks_ like everything is in order.

I think one of two things is happening: CowCaster is not detecting the right directory(which would happen if you launch it but the current directory is set somewhere else, unlikely), OR Vista's permissions aren't letting it launch another program.

I can't think of anything else that would be causing problems there. So yeah, I suggest trying a much simpler directory as stated above.

Advice on playing Marisa:

- Marisa's green puffballs are your friend. Particularly fj.2b - The one that you launch in the air which goes towards the ground. When it hits something, including the ground and other projectiles, it explodes, which destroys all of the opponent's projectiles and hits over an enormous area.
- j.b is your melee for hitting stuff in front of you, it hits below and in front for quite some distance. Additionally, if you land one, you can juggle it with more j.b's! So just mash it in the air if all else fails.
- j.a is the melee you use for hitting stuff under you, it has a deceptively large hitbox.
- Marisa's only two ground graze attacks are her broom ride and 3dbutt, use them to punch through opponent's projectiles, but not as primary offense.
- At close range, marisa 5b is scary, because you have the advantage after it's blocked and you can do it again. Toss a few of these out and then use your heavy hitters(ex: 22a) once they're afraid of moving. If they keep walking into it, well, that's good for you, yeah?
- 66a catches jumpouts, and on a CH bounce you can just start flying around and tossing j.b's in their face.
- Most of all, don't be afraid of getting in there. You're Marisa, you're supposed to be rude and in their face, ze.

It's amazing how much effort it takes to get any decent hits in with Meiling. A full combo does about 1600-1700 dmg while Youmu just kicks you two times for 2000+ dmg but yet I suck at this game so I guess my opinion is invalid.

Nah, Meiling sucks. It's fact. Her melee pressure is good but she's seriously lacking in effective zoning tools. That being said, she can be scary if played right, but you've _really_ got to know how to move first, and how frametraps work, since she's really, really reliant on both of those.

Most of the rest of the cast is fairly balanced, she's considerably further behind than anyone else.

It goes up as attacks hit and are blocked. Basically the more stuff that goes on before declare, the more SCs you're going to have afterwards and the longer the declare period is going to last. So if you're winning it's in your best interests to end things quickly, but if you're losing you want to draw it out.

Reimu - Low damage, but good at locking opponents down forever. Fairly technical, doesn't get much off of random hits.
Marisa - High damage, game based on nullifying opponent's zoning. Very strong melee. Orreries best SC in the game.
Sakuya - Medium damage, but very safe and high priority. Turns momentum around on a dime even if pressure is not terribly strong. Time stop is scary.
Alice - Low-medium damage. Excels at controlling the opponent's movement, when you fight Alice you're fighting her game, but is very difficult to play well.
Youmu - High damage. Strongest non-spellcard combos in the game. Relatively weak zoning can make it hard to get in, but very good once she does get in. Relies on her air priority.
Patchouli - Medium-high damage. Strongest zoning game around, but lack of a decent melee game hampers her badly against anyone who knows how to graze. Can put out a lot of damage in a very short amount of time against a careless opponent.
Remilia - Medium damage. Strong ground dominance, weak air game. Combos off of most random hits off the ground, has a strong guard break through 6b. Projectiles mostly for annoying/interrupting opponent.
Yuyuko - Medium-high damage. Very floaty, has lots of slow power hits, though 5a is deceptively fast and good. Has the invincible flip countermove. Slow projectiles means you have to pick your hits.
Yukari - Medium-high damage. Give her an inch, she'll take a mile. Strongest corner game around, and stopsign makes challenging her in melee a pain. Projectiles are very costly. Ran is scary.
Suika - High damage. Suika is about making the opponent move badly. Has good range and deceptively strong attacks.
Meiling - Lowest damage. Weak zoning game makes getting in difficult, but is not to be underestimated. Has a very strong frame trapping game, can basically force the opponent to burn a bomb or take a hit when locked into the corner.

Sakuya: Her moves are really safe, fast 22s and overall very well balanced character with no real weakness.
