I think I have at least some sense of when I can jump out of pressure now. I still need to learn how to be less predictable when I jump in, though, since if anything you were reading that more than usual.

I do lose the majority of the matches I play against people from this thread (which, granted, isn't such a big sample), so if I'm not bad then I'm not average either, but I guess I could change the description to "kind of bad" or "not incredibly bad" or something along those lines.

No, it doesn't. While FB certainly has the capability to make stronger AI, the CPU is just supposed to be a moving practice dummy.

Don't blame them though, the focus is player vs player.

I personally dislike "strong" AI anyway, as they tend to be more on the cheating side where your victory depends on exploiting AI holes and not actually playing properly.

>> No.10188052

>>10188012
I see, but at least they should make the AI do combos rather than just hit once then jump around on even hardest difficulty

What make this weird is that only few characters who display "difficult" AI like Ciel, Satsuki and Akiha Vermillion while some characters are pure shit even on hardest

Well as you said rather than worrying about that I should find other players to play with

GGs. By throw setups with 214A, do you mean blockstring into 214A into throw? I tried to do something like that a few times, if you saw my non-SJ-canceled 623B's, but I don't quite have the timing down and I'm not sure where else I could do that.

By throw setups, I mean after a corner throw, you can do something like: 2AB 2AB (delay) 2C 214A. It puts an ice spike right next to them, but barely not touching. If they try to mash out, they get hit, if they try to DP, most likely a hit, if they try to jump out, you can hit them, if they block, you can throw into same setup. It makes her a bit more dangerous in the corner.

Oh, that makes more sense. I was playing around with j.214A in training mode earlier, so that's what immediately came to mind when you said 214A.
I think you've suggested that before, but I had enough trouble with the 2AB 2AB part even offline that I eventually gave up on it. Maybe I'll try to learn it again.

The WLen above you, I noticed that you said you were trying to do SJ Cancels (SJc) with 623B.

Don't use 623B, use 623A.
You might be able to (pretty much never) score a wallslam combo with the B version, but it is easily punishable on block and has no ambiguity at the point of where you can SJc.
That means anyone can mash during that point and still be safe because blockstun will eat their input if you don't SJc.

623A on the other hand is safe on block and EX cancellable (you'll lose momentum if you don't EX cancel) and you can half charge it during the cancel point and fish for a counter hit into combo. Full charge is an overhead, you can do yo-yo loop off of it.

Given all that, the 623 series by itself is a really weak tool. The moment the dance connects, good players would already be stand blocking. Making post SJc actions and the charged overhead pretty worthless.
Beware too that SJ makes a lot of noise, if you're planning to fastfall as well. It gets easy to react to.

You can improve the utility of the 623 series by mixing it up with spacing/zoning tool 22B/C. If you conditioned them correctly, they'll be blocking high, you can score easy lows and even get a throw chance. Play with your ambigious distance, it'll be high risk if they mash.

Weird that we got bumped up by 1 delay. Threw off most of my antics as C-Ryougi, and all my throw breaks for that matter.

You're starting to get more mashy again. Of course, more so with character's you are unfamiliar with. The thing is you need to learn to quickly identify when you are mashing at a disadvantage and when you are following up an advantage, a punish if you will.

There are some situations that can seem pretty damn legit to mash/punish/counter, but for things like Nero's flock of crows okizeme. You'll seldom see good players do anything but block, Nero has so many answers to that stuff so really gotta make it a surprise if you're countering.

As for myself, god damn I'm too focused on countering anything and everything. Not even considering the risks, nor my moon style for that matter.
I haven't had much practice running through anti-mash stuff so this was good experience for me either way, so thanks for the matches.

>> No.10215384

>>10215187
Whoops meant to say anti-mash stuff that was more than brain dead staggering. It's a compliment I swear.

Ah, heck I'll take this time to fix this too.
>>10210530
You can do a lot more things after a blocked 623A to preserve momentum without needing to spend meter.

If your opponent has the habit of using B or C normals after, you can backdash and use that invulnerability to your advantage. If predictable, shield it! In some cases you can even jump away (backwards and sometimes IAD back in).

Once they realize that they can only look to their A normals, you can start shield countering a lot safer, since 5/2A can be shielded standing or low. I wouldn't backdash anymore, it gets way too punishable. Also to note, some 5/2A's are too short to hit you as long as you aren't blocking.

Soon you'll reduce them into the cowards they should be and they'll just block afterwards. Now you can continue running your normal pressure for a little longer, but beware as they can easily change their minds without warning. All about reading the risk of the situation. I didn't mention it, but be wary of those who choose to use special moves instead.

Like you said, I do tend to mash more when I'm playing as someone I'm not familiar with. I was trying to mash out of the crows because when I play against Nero I'll sometimes get grabbed there, but I guess I should be throwing to counter that if I expect it instead of mashing (and even if that fails, getting grabbed is better than getting hit with a full combo).

And I remember now why I gave up on the ice pillar setups. I could do the 2AB juggle pretty consistently on VSion, but I couldn't get it to work on any of the characters I actually played against. I tried it just now in training mode against Ryougi to make sure it wasn't just my execution being off when I tried it while we were playing, and I couldn't finish the first 2AB even once out of 30 or so tries. Following up the 2A with a 2C and starting with a 2B didn't seem to work either. Is it even possible against her?

Also, thanks for the advice on how to use 623A. I should get in the habit of using that sometimes after 2C as an alternative to ice specials.

Oh yeah, you can definitely still do it against Ryougi. Watch your distance though, if you dash grab her, it'll be impossible to follow up with 2B.
At point blank throw range you'll have to do a almost 1 frame walk back before connecting with 5A.

Pic is my frame timings at point blank.

Yeah I still stand by it, yo-yo loops are a pain online.

No problem, I'd say it was you that inspired me to learn more and more about F-WLen.
