NEET lifestyle thread, Friday night edition.

How are you NEETs spending the weekend?

On weekends your parents buy you booze.

Plus it's like Christmas: meaningless or even a chore to you, but it's nice to pretend it matters.

At some point in the past decade or two, it became taboo to want alcoholic beverages or something. Fucking neurotypicals and their double standards.

I suppose it's been three years for me, since 16 to 19. I dropped out of school and my parents probably still think that drinking my brains out is what kids do and I'm somehow more normal for it, so they've been buying me booze every weekend without fail for the past 3 years.

My birthday is coming up soon, I'll be 20. I'm going to go outside for that and pretend I did something.

Education itself only has so much use alone. What's truly useful is experience, and most colleges nowadays will get you that. Co-op programs along with internships and all that get you the experience and connections needed to succeed alongside the education to be able to work in whatever field you are aiming for. College isn't useless, and education isn't useless. What's useless is the person who doesn't take advantage of every opportunity. If you go to college you have to be dedicated and ready for it, unlike >>10181183. The only people who complain about their own college or education are people who either got a near-worthless degree or went through college like a halfass and are now wondering why their "useless education" didn't get them a job. The other people who complain are the people who can't afford college complaining about prices and worth, which is actually a valid complaint because so many factors have screwed over college costs since the 80s.

I have a bit of advice for everyone who needs to get a job or otherwise participate in society. This is the all-important determining factor for a person's success in society. It's not "I have enthusiasm" or "I have determination, goals, and motivation." The determining factor is "fuck it."

If you want something different, start a business. Employers have a pick of the litter of people lining up to be paid minimum wage, especially in the US where society encourages workers to contribute to the large-scale success of businesses. The only con is that you have to fill out a lot of paperwork, but even that doesn't matter because no-one reads any of said paperwork. You might also have to take out a loan, but the investment for that is much smaller than in student loans, and you have the advantage of actually being able to file bankruptcy on business loans so you can never really screw yourself over with it.

These NEET threads are supposed to be for people who enjoy the lifestyle. Sorry that the /r9k/ikes made you believe otherwise.

>> No.10181723

There have always been two types of NEET. One seems genuinely happy and content living a life with a dim future and minimal social interactions.

The other is pretty much the opposite in that they long first and foremost for social interaction. Most everything in their life is governed by their desire for interaction. Following that they would like a promising future, which usually means worrying about entering schooling or training of some sort eventually in the future. Finally, they're discontent with the labels society has put on them and would like to change their lives for the "better".

Disgusting people, that second group. They really are the lowest of the low. Especially all the people here wanting to get a job, longing for friends outside and being depressed about their NEET lifestyle. Just die already if you are so sad about your NEET life.

That's a very shallow analysis.
It's possible, indeed quite common, for people to enjoy the NEET lifestyle and yet be looking for work out of necessity. You can be happy with your immediate circumstances even while trying to change them. Life is complex like that.

That said, NEET threads are obviously meant for the discussion of NEET lifestyle. NEETs who are looking for work can still contribute to that discussion, but talking *about* jobs is clearly inappropriate.

I went out and spent some time in the woods today. I only covered 2-3 miles hiking but I ascended about 700 ft in under a mile. I don't do it often but it's nice to get some fresh air occasionally. The temperature was perfect. It was just cool enough to feel good while climbing without needing more than a windbreaker to stay comfortable at all times.

Honestly, I have a feeling a lot of these people are just saying that because they don't know otherwise. Grass is always greener etc. I wouldn't be at all surprised if among career NEETs "I wish I worked harder/ Wish I had the courage to try in life" would be common as well.

That said I doubt I'd be one of those NEETs, however you never know how learning of your own mortality might affect you. In all honestly I probably wouldn't care, or regret I wouldn't get to live a longer NEET life.

Last night I slept as long as possible, woke up at 4 a.m. Not sure what time I went to bed but it was early, and I tried to sleep in, so presumably it was as long as I needed to.

Then I went to sleep again at 11 a.m., woke up at 3-4 p.m. I'm pretty bad about keeping track of the time, but I was out cold for awhile.

It's now 5 p.m. and I'm already sleepy again. It feels like too much effort to even look for new games to download/play. I haven't watched any new anime in months, although I still watch parts of old favorites.

It feels like I'm somehow becoming even more lethargic than usual. Is that even possible?

I think it's pretty well accepted that oversleeping can easily lead to sleeping more. That does sound a bit unusual, though. If it's bothering you, you might try forcing yourself to stay up until you can sleep at least 7-8 hours and repeat that at least a couple times.

A lot of what people said in this thread is true. But is it strange if I don't care about being NEET but would like to have my own place somehow? If I just somehow had my own place that I never had to leave unless I wanted to would be perfect I think.

I often daydream about landing the perfect job where I could be alone at all hours of the night and get paid for it. Like a cemetery watchman for an church. Sit in a little shed and every few hours get up and wander around, then go home and enjoy my own company.

Is that so much to ask? I don't want the world, I just want to be left alone but have something to occupy me.

Oldschool supernatural zombies are actually more dangerous than infected-style zombies anyway, since infected-style zombies are still bound by biology and should succumb to mass starvation after a year or so. The only major issue is if the disease can be spread through water, animal meat, or the air, in which case it'll be about as dangerous as any other highly-contagious fatal disease.
