What is the link in-between /jp/ and /tg/? I know /v/ was once in on this secret friendship, but they're long gone. So what keeps Japan/General and Traditional Games together?

>> No.1013796

Touhou. No seriously.

>> No.1013799

>>1013787

/v/ never had friends. Even back when I was stuck in shitty /a/ and we were bemoaning how shitty it was, we used to console ourselves by saying "at least we aren't /v/."

/tg/ is just an awesome board, easily the best remaining on 4chan. And there's the Touhou connection. I'm really fucking jealous of /tg/, but I never really did the whole tabletop thing other than some wargames with my dad.

Touhou. Really.
We have at least two touhoufags who are a lot into character optimization for D&D 4th edition and help people understand the system and all. Plus, they like to break it.
And they routinely spam touhou.
And then there's the guy that statted up some Touhoes as Exalted entities. Koakuma and Patchouli as demons, and Yukari as a celestial goddess.

>> No.1013896

>>1013884
Patchouli as a demon? She would be at best a lich, at worst a human wizard. Alice would be more like a demon- wait, what am I talking about.

Well, now I know why touhou and D&D are linked. The secrets of the universe become clearer to me.

I think almost every one here agrees, but that real world yukari pic is awsome...FUKKEN SAVED...

>> No.1013973

Well, there are no liches in Exalted. Demons aren't your usual pitchfork-wielding ugly red orcs on fire, but alien creatures that follow incomprehensible but predictable behavioral patterns and exist in a simple three-layered hierarchy.

This reminded me of the SDM. Patchu uses magic based on the day of the week. Some days she can't use her most powerful spells, and on other she can. the mistress of the house can manipulate destiny and her sister is locked up in the basement because she has the power to destroy the universe. The maid is human but with ridiculous reality-bending powers.
Koakuma = Demon of the First Circle
Patchouli = Demon of the Second Circle
Meiling = Demon of the Second Circle
Remilia = Demon of the Third Circle
Flandre = Demon of the Third Circle
Sakuya = Infernal Exalted (basically a human hero that has been chosen by the demon princes to serve them).

Despite everything, Touhou is quite loved on /tg/. Another touhoufag is DMing a D&D campaign via chat.
The characters that signed up are, for now (straight from our wiki):
* Reimu Hakurei, spirit-touched human wizard/cleric/Divine Oracle

Wish can backfire horribly. By saying something as trivial as 'I wish to be the little girl', you could cause your party to be destroyed, a whole plane of existence warped, and the disappearance of three minor deities. NEVER want to become the little girl.

I remember a story about a guy using Wish.
He wished into existance a spear made of 25,000,000 copper things to kill a Black Dragon or something like that. He ended up killing the dragon and the gate it guarded.

It usually only backfires when you ask for something complex, too specific, or something that would break the game.

no...her types of magic share the same names as the japanese days of a week, btw some of those names are also the same as the planets in our solar system. if you need a better example of this, go watch look up.....gasp...sailor moon. ever wonder why some of them had elemental affinities? it's because of the names

it has nothing to do with when she can use what

not really...her types of magic share the same names as the japanese days of a week, btw some of those names are also the same as the planets in our solar system. if you need a better example of this, go watch look up.....gasp...sailor moon. ever wonder why some of them had elemental affinities? it's because of the names

it has nothing to do with what's based on what. it just so happens the words themselves are actual elements

I watched Sailor Moon. I know enough japanese to know what 日月火水木金土 means, they're the name of the days, of the elements (plus sun and moon) and of the visible planets up to jupiter (plus sun and moon). That's beside the point, but, if it makes you happier:

"This reminded me of the SDM. Patchu uses magic based on the day of the week/the planets/the elements. Some days she can't use her most powerful spells, and on others she can."

You could also, you know, have a gaming group that grew out of the "players vs. DM" five-year-old mentality.
