If I had to guess, I'd say that on average maybe 20% of time spent at the office is spent doing any actual, meaningful work. Then again, you also hear that everyone keeps getting degrees. I think the solution would be to tell kids they don't need degrees, and encourage more people to start working, e.g. in trade jobs.

I have a m.sc. and have been working as an enterprise storage/backup/linux admin for 6 years. I do nothing since my scripts do it all for me, but I pretend to work all day so I can continue to get a paycheck. There's no "IT guy" watching me and I have my own dark office so I just shitpost on /jp/ for most of the day and fap to lolis when I'm working late at night with nobody in the office.

It gets pretty old though. I never bothered to code so I'm teaching myself C now as a hobby. I script work shit in perl, but I don't count scripting as programming.

Minimum wage is the main reason we have such high unemployment. There are jobs there, they're just not worth paying someone $6/hr to do. Therefore, people without useful skills are out of work. On the other hand, people with useful degrees like engineering or CS are clamored after.

In the unrealistic scenario you proposed, everyone is "working for chump change" and logically, has little to no disposable income. Such a situation would result in drastically reduced demand for all but the most basic goods, which means that, guess what, the evil corporations lose more money than they save by paying those evil low wages. Thus wage rates are never set too low, as you know, the workers spend those wages back on the goods and services produced by the corporations. Not to mention, it's far better for the economy to have people working below minimum wage instead of leeching off welfare. It's funny you should mention Chinese living standards though, because guess what corporations are doing thanks to the minimum wage, they're outsourcing millions of jobs to foreign workers because it's cheaper. As a result, more Americans are unemployed and on welfare, and the standards of living keep dropping.

Kindergarten teachers is a tough fucking job. They're absolutely reckless at that age. I did some commuinity service hours in an after school program taking care of kindgarteners with other people and it was horrible. They bite each other, kick each other, do the most homoerotic things like jump on top of each other and hump each other. One boy kissed another boy. That's exactly how wages are supposed to work, genius. If people are willing to work for that wage then they will. It's voluntary on each end. Also, just because one guy is willing to work for $4/hr doesn't mean everyone is, so employers will be forced to raise the wage for others to take the job.

Also, you seem to be forgetting about a little thing called unpaid internships that are a direct result of minimum wage. Nobody is going to pay an intern minimum wage, so instead they pay them nothing. I would much rather get $1-$6 an hour than 0.
