language thread. how many kanji do you know? I'm at around 1500 and most of the grammar's already been through

Quiz tells me somewherea round 580-600, and I'd say it's probably about right, considering the way I'm learning kanji is more like learning vocab, not individual characters.

If i were learning characters, I'd be able to make more compounds, and hence I'd be able to recognize a lot more.
