Been trying to go for a SA Lunatic 1cc. 2181 attempts in 40 hours, and I have only gotten to stage 5 once without having to continue. Haven't reached stage 4 in a couple of weeks lately, but I think I'll get there before 2013. God is it tiring, but I just need a ton of more luck.

A minute 6 seconds on average? You can start bomb spamming at stage 1 without losing anything permanently.

>> No.10020374

Most of those attempts are stage practice, though getting past stage 1 in a full run is not a regular occasion for me.

>> No.10020444

I've been half-heartedly trying to MoF lunatic 1cc, but I've never been past stage four. Although I don't think I've put in more than twenty hours into it total yet.

I could probably get a lot farther if I spammed bombs, though, but that's not going to get me through the later stages. It's not the difficulty that's the most appropriate to me anyway.

Someone please help me out. I was watching an EoSD run, and on Meiling's non-spellcard where she throws out lines of swords in all directions a static amount, then they recede back to her and get sent out in an angled pattern, the player would use a bomb at this point and get a bunch of points. I tried watching it over and over and couldn't figure our where the points were going, and even tried it out in game myself and couldn't get it to work. Anyone have an idea of what he was doing?

>> No.10027547

>>10027505
People abuse an anomaly of ZUN's programming to gain high scores in EoSD. When bullets cancel into star items, their value is based on your current graze. If your graze on a specific stage is very high, canceled bullets are worth a lot of points. ZUN programmed it so that bullet cancels due to bombs won't give you much of anything, which makes sense. However, this reduced star item value wears off as soon as the bomb does. People abuse this fact by bombing certain attacks that have many bullets spawning that are far from the player. By the time the very last star items reach the player, they're worth a stupid amount of points that greatly outshadow the game's actual point items.

There should be enough room for error to get past those few trouble spots. Inkblot is about anticipating gaps, I normally stay slightly away from the middle along the bottom. Genetics isn't particularly hard, except she's moving around all over the place, so you can't damage her as easily, so it lasts longer and gives you more opportunity to mess up.

For the endurance cards, the first one really is easy, you move around to make gaps, and stay in one of the wedges. The other one, first bit is dead easy. Second bit the rose expander moves in a U shape so you want to ping-pong between the end points. The third bit I can't really do either, just move to where the walls are coming from at the start, and try not to get pushed to the other corner. You can always cancel it with a bomb if necessary.

How is UFO Extra anyway? I haven't even beaten that on Normal, never liked the UFO mechanics. And did you also include Ten Desires and the PC-98 games, I haven't beaten Extra on those.

>> No.10033441

>>10033152

I haven't beaten Koishi yet, but I can say for certain that her second timeout spell is easy enough if you started from the corner then simply moved up with the square gap. When you're close to the end, or the roses are about to get you, just bomb. You shouldn't lose more than a life this way, and the power bonus afterward compensates for the bombs you've used.

it's essentially survival at max difficulty (keeping spell points at bonus), which i think is tits. similar thing with podd. if you like the game, it isn't a stretch to like the scoring

also, if you use a character (like mystia) that can't hit the ai, then you eliminate the worst part of the game: the ai randomly dying too quickly. the other random elements can still affect the final score but only by a little, as they end up averaging out over entire runs. so you can directly compare scores and see who did better... not quite like with every other game, but enough to make it legitimate

>> No.10059519

>>10057708
>it's essentially survival at max difficulty
You can survive without breaking your chain. And since you can't memo fairy spawn locations, when boss attack is used, or spirit spawn locations, you can't memo everything. Actually it's a lot of following the basic pattern of surviving and not breaking the chain, if I've understood correctly. It's too randomly oriented for me. I guess some people find it funny, I'd rather play PoFV against people or with silly survival challenges.

Reimu is weak but homing and Yukari is overpowered: once you lock Ran on your opponent you don't need to stay below her and it's better than Remi since she'll follow her moves.
Also, you have ten seconds for a deathbomb after being hit.

And even though, Reimu is a lot easier, Marisa is so much mure enjoyable to fight. 4B is pretty much the only stage that I replay from time to time on practice for fun.

You didn't beat the WR.

>> No.10065624

>>10065610
Well, no, of course I didn't. I was not aiming for it, and I'm out of practice so I had some silly deaths and a mistake on the final last spell.

I've never beaten any WR's, I think you're confusing me with someone else if you believe that I'd have potential for such on a whim. Actually, I doubt anyone here could just go and beat IN easy Magic Team WR on a whim. It has required quite a bit of practice to get this far, and the final steps are the hardest ones.

I tired some new stuff (to me), though!

Is that a challenge?

If you so wish, go at it. I wouldn't score in stuff for just a challenge though, I'd play things that feel good.

KWS's score is pretty good, by the way. Maybe it has flaws as everything, but it's a rather neat play.

Good luck.

Eh, sorry for using /jp/ for my personal musings again. Nice to talk with someone, though. If you'll go for a WR, I'll hope to hear more from you and your little challenge.

If you believe that getting a WR is the only thing that justifies playing, your experience must be rather unsatisfying.

I don't really mind it just because I enjoy playing. It's not about winning for me. I used to get enraged and even cry over losing runs, but it hasn't been like that for a while. Over the past year or so, I have become a lot calmer and accepting of mistakes. Maybe it has something to do with me getting more experienced at the games? I've lost some pretty serious ones at the last second, and while I was still upset, it was was nothing like how I reacted before.
