I have only played Swordcraft Story 1&2. How do these games compare in terms of gameplay?

I really liked how you had to craft your own weapons, but I'm guessing that's exclusive to the games with the Swordcraft subtitle?

i say three since 4 has a guy fighting while holding Ice cream. That is not someone who is dedicated to saving the world.
