I mean, you're supposed to compress the files but keeping the process perceptually lossless. It's up to you to do ABX testing to determine the severity of encoding artifacts. I just think that it's impossible to achieve 3x reduction in size without visual errors you can actually see.

I used to encode years ago and while sure the quality still remains amazing the problem is time investment, it's simply not worth it. It took on the range of 3-5 hours per.title (assuming 2 hours title)

That's why we, lazy encoders, don't play with bitrate too often. I just use the highest presets of better codecs to achieve better results that way.
