I'll admit that I enjoy talking with the Italian on occasion, but that's because I know that there's a mind behind the screen, that discussion can actually take place with him. She did, but that doesn't stop Battler and Yasu following HER life, considering it was a very public one thanks to having the Ushiromiya name attached to her. Neither dared approach, for Eva would likely not receive them well, and then she was barricaded in St Lucia. Even after she 'died', and changed her identity, she decided to become a renowned children's author, and that made her very easy to find again. Writing all that stuff about Maria's old toy... it was remarkably funny to the both of them, and yet very much sad. However, they decided to respect Ange's decision to move on from her previous identity, and stayed well away.
As she growed older, Ange got cancer. Whilst they might have become recluses, Battler decided to take pity on his sister and pay her a visit, excusing himself by having 'amnesia'. He planned to have, in her final moments, come once more and comfort her as Battler, and not as Tohya. However, when he went into that orphanage, and saw a perfect recreation of the mansion, he couldn't help but get up and laugh. That is why the story cuts off at that point: it wouldn't do to see Tohya, suddenly able to stand once more, erupt in laughter at the sight of something so sad, so ridiculous, all in the name of 'releasing Battler's spirit'. How pathetic is that? And thus, he couldn't help himself. To maintain the 'love' of the story, that had to be removed.

Well, George had been worrying over Battler ever since he started dating Shannon, and that was like 2 years before he saw Battler again. He had Battler's 12 year old version plus a letter to make up a Battler boogeyman to worry himself over. It might have been correct, but it was still a ridiculous thing to get worked up over before he even saw his cousin again.

K1 feels a lot blander than Battler in my opinion. I sympathised with K1 the most in Onikakushi because you felt like it was literally K1 vs the world and him walking around with a bat was like his scared shitless but ready to fight back. But it all gets dampened later with the reveal that he was just a schizo and it was all fake. Battler in comparison is constantly fighting and you get to experience everything with him, when he fucks up like a giant retard and starts crying you feel despair and when he wins and outsmarts someone you feel elated. Him punching Bern is still one of the most memorable moments of any media ever. I'm not gay but I'd suck him off.
