until the day they count digital sales, streaming, and the like, pissing-match charts like Oricon and MTV are gonna find themselves being completely irrelevant.

I admit it's fun to watch, and seeing MM hit #1 is its own kind of awesome, but given how more and more of us acquire our music, it's starting to make less and less sense.
