Did I say anything about girlfriends? Think about an action you would truly despise someone for. I don't know you, so I don't know what it is. Now imagine that you find out that Ina did that. Would you still follow her for the "content"? You are a good little "content" consumer, aren't you?
Hololive members are idols, even if not the cookie cutter seiso idols (which aren't that prevalent IRL anyway). They are followed for their personality, not solely for the content of the streams save for a few rare exceptions. Things that happen off stream but become known to fans are part of their character including boyfriends and what not. Most people don't feel nearly as inclined to support (推す) someone who has a confirmed partner. Parasocial interaction just isn't the same. Some manage to make it work and maintain a fanbase despite the lack of this draw, but most fail and crash and burn if they are ever found out. It's that simple. Western normalfags trying to make it about idolfags actually believing that they have a chance with their oshi don't have even a surface understanding of idol culture.
