I hate the open-eyed versions, they just look too creepy IMO. The one with the closed-eyes is better. Sure, you could argue that they actually look dead instead, but I prefer to look at it as if they're either sleeping or follow that blind stereotype from anime with characters like Nunnaly from Code Geass.
