You know what OP?
I actually theorized something like that myself, from even before ep7.

And even with those parts about Erika's old boyfriend and her being stood up and all that. It wasn't all that impossible to theorize that Battler could have been this old boyfriend, and through Bern's transformation of Erika no one would recognize her anyway.

The only things who I found working outright against this at the time was
1. Olololol Yasu = half the cast! Perfect writing Ryukishi!
and
2. Erika's death status from the TIPS screen, is written in the past tense, as if it were from future Ange's time. And to me it sounded as if they had actual records of the person Erika having been on that boat at the time.
And, Ange's point of view is reliable is it not? That is, unless the source is from any of the message bottles or rumours?
