Not sure how many of you all remember them.
Nijiura Maids originate from the Futaba imageboard. Their history is older than 4chan itself as it takes root in the early 2000s.

Memes on 2ch's equivalent of /b/. Take a word, add "i" to the end (meaning "-ish" or "-like") (if it doesn't have one already), create a maid with that personality.
For an english equivalent, take a word and add "y" at the end. Sort of like the seven dwarves on maid memes.
Like Yakui would be Druggy, or Nemui would be Sleepy. Shinrai might be Trusty and Yamashii would be Shifty.

I'll be sure to remember the others.
The maids, the maids. Oh, the maids!

They're maids. Their names represent the whole of their identity, usually in the format of an adjective or a noun hacked into an adjective (e.g. Yakui is "Drugish"). They work for Nanashi (japanese Anonymous) in the Nijiura House, a mansion of memes.
And there was a damn lot of them.
