The point is there's 0 benefit in wasting time trying to understand English explanations of connotational differences that are likely going to be awkward, incomplete, or even flat out wrong. Especially something as simple as the original question - if you just know that both phrases mean the speaker likes something, the difference in how they are used should be readily apparent by the time you've finished a few chapters of yotsuba or something.
