Slight future setting. Portals opened in modern day, short first contact war, humanity loses, but it isn't bad the monsters just wanted husbands.
Monsters start with magic, humans are beginning to grasp it with the mana flow changing Earth's ecosystem. Anyone who puts in the effort can learn it.
Human boys can be born from human/monster pairs, girls are always born monsters.
The order is less pseudo-Christian and more old world powers not happy about being taken over.
Several Gods and Goddesses are back, but some of them aren't exactly amused with the direction humanity took their teachings.
Human females can be monsterized due to over exposure to mana. Some see it as something to be feared, others see Dark Mages as a form of empowerment. Very few pull it off, even less without eventually monsterizing.

As paradoxical as that is that's something I would enjoy.

I thought about trying to write something about an Apophis who gets everything she wants and is miserable, yet can't figure out why. I'm not sure how to really twist it, but she would end up wanting to start a family instead of being mustache twirlingly evil.

Granted that's not healing per say, but I do like seeing friction between the monster part and the girl part.
