In my own personal case, I was largely aware of the fact that my duty (however self-imposed) to my family, to whom I owe a great deal of gratitude would force me to choose between pursuing my dream career full-time and cutting short my ambitions in order to provide my family with a comfortable living and the sense of security in knowing that someone is looking out for them. This is something that I have refused to accept, deep down, and it takes discourses such as this to view the matter from a more rational standpoint: yes, I can't leave home and carve out a permanent life for myself in a high-octane metropolis. There are opportunities at home, however, and my education didn't exactly provide me with zilch. I have enough local contacts to nab part-time work or cultivate the beginnings of a small business. I have enough know-how to provide decent services.

And things within my family may change, of course; hope may be irrational, but it can still serve as a psychological safety net. No real point in writing off the next twenty years if I don't know what will happen in those twenty years. All I can do is plan for them and hope for the best.

So I've printed a small picture of Rumia (TH 6 official artwork) and there's a dollar store nearby that sells small picture frames and white candle stubs.

I'm going to scavenge around a construction site later tonight for a suitable piece of wood or scrap metal that would make for a good altar mount for the portrait. It should be surrounded by candles - five right now, though as I add to it I'm envisioning 15-20 candles.

I've settled on red ribbons as a suitable sacrificial offering to burn, though as said beforehand I can't burn them inside. Burning outside would risk sparking a forest fire.

I'm also thinking of using mistletoe as a more easily disposable and inconspicuous offering (Rumia's GoM sigil has a branch of mistletoe in it) and I already have the resources to make prayer tokens. Don't know where I would find mistletoe though...

At this point my shrine is set to establish Rumia as an excellent bodhisattva/ancestral spirit/whatever in my household! Wish me luck!

Now, I don't know who Youmu is (character from touhou I'm guessing?), but I'm assuming it's the cuter, more appealing girl on the left, so here goes...
