Despite the fact that Kasen had just told Seija that she would, could, and desperately wanted to kill her slowly and painfully, Seija remained defiant. "Wow, that's some threat, especially coming from such an outstanding hermit. You're real amazing, aren't you? Hey, you're making me blush." I wondered just what Seija had to gain from still being so antagonistic. Clearly, she was cornered and had no way out. "Must be nice to need nothing but your own weakness to stand by yourself, huh? Making those threats is meaningless if you've never truly had to fight for your life before."

Kasen stared impassively. "You speak to me as if I was just an oni." She murmured. "No, amanojaku. Your words are as meaningless as your existence. Even if you live past today, it will be scrabbling in the dirt, fighting for the slightest hint of trust in order to betray it and garner just a little bit more hatred to sustain you. What a sad existence." Kasen looked over at Reimu. "Reimu - There's no point trying to talk to her."

Reimu, her gohei tapping against her palm, looked over at Kasen. "Probably not. Still, we might as well try for a little while longer." She rolled her neck, then sighed heavily. "I figured I'd seen the last of you at the fireworks festival. Guess I'm not so lucky."

"Guess you're plenty lucky." Seija replied lazily.

"What were you even planning here? Can you tell me that much? It might be possible to convince me not to make mention of this to Shinmyoumaru if you do." And here, curiously, I saw the first crack in Seija's antagonistic armour. Her eyes flicked, just the slightest amount and just for the barest amount of time, when Reimu mentioned that name. I didn't know who it was, but... "What the hell possesses someone who considers themselves weak like you to try attacking a wedding attended by most of the strong people in Gensokyo?"

"...Nothing I hate more than a bunch of self-obsessed strong people getting their comeuppance." She finally muttered. "Figured I'd steal the rings. Throw a few spanners in the works. Woulda worked if that flower bitch hadn't missed me." Assuming that she was as contrarian as amanojaku were in the stories, I finally decided to just consider the opposite of what she said. "All that talk of love and shit was putting me to sleep, so..." She smirked at Kasen, who's face continued to show nothing but displeasure. "Thanks for waking me up."

I felt Yamame squeeze my hand slightly. Not so much in a comforting way, but in a 'I'm considering hurting this girl' kind of way. "Why'd you pick this wedding?" She asked, her voice just as cold as Kasen's. "Why now?"

Seija leaned against the back of the barrier holding her in place, fingers interlocked behind her head. "I'm an amanojaku, idiot." She replied lazily, but it had my thoughts blanking out. That - That was the exact words. Those same words that she'd used on the worst night of my life. "I saw something boring and thought that I'd calm things down a bit." Then, she laughed, the same way she had in the past - And I squeezed Yamame's hand this time, involuntarily.

Reimu looked at me, then back at Seija. "That's your only reason?"

"Do I need another? You're pretty bright, aren't you?" So...That was an insult. My thoughts were still racing wildly in my skull. The amanojaku was here, right in front of me. The one who'd led my parents to their deaths. She was - Right - Here. And...I couldn't figure myself out. This was one of those moments where I actually did wish that Satori Komeiji was here. She, at least, could tell me exactly what I was thinking and how I was feeling. I should hate her. I should want her dead as if it would even begin to repay what she'd done. But...

"...No, I don't buy it. It's too big of a coincidence that you'd target this particular wedding." Reimu's eyes flicked over to me. It should have escaped notice, but Seija caught it. Slowly, she looked between Reimu and I, her face growing pensive.

"What's your fascination, Hakurei?" She asked, pushing off of the back wall of the seal and crossing her arms. "Ain't it a little soon to be eyeing a married man?" At this, Kasen punched the seal again, causing it to flash slightly. Fortunately, it held, so Seija wouldn't be going free any time soon. Unfortunately, that meant that Kasen couldn't hurt her either. "Whoa-ho!" The amanojaku half laughed and half cried as she stumbled backward again. "Temper, temper! Oni are always so calm!"

"Yo, Kasen." Yuugi placed a hand on her shoulder. "It won't help." She shook her head. "You're just giving her what she wants."
