>they're just a really good metal band with a fresh take on the whole thing

That is objectively untrue. From a technical perspective, they fail at metal in every aspect. Their lyrics are generally devoid of any meaning and the guitars and bass lack any refinement. The drums are simplistic but passable. A 500$ machine would play it better. The drummer's kit is acceptable but it gets no awards. They use about 2 or 3 synths max and can't decide their tone.

Wow, the salt is so real your ability to type a coherent sentence utterly collapsed. My venomous statement aside, what the actual fuck are you attempting to say aside from making ad hominem attacks?

I agree. My issue is the tuning of the guitars is too high to call them metal and the addition of the techno-esque synths dilutes what little metal there was so greatly that it's not metal. Sorry for not being more clear with that.

Well for one, Tool is closer to heavy alternative rock than it is metal. For two, Tool is the very definition of mallgoth music, short of Evanescence or Cradle of Filth. For three, they're entry level and a person who "respects their taste in metal" generally avoids entry level content.

Those lyrics are fine. They're by no means great but I think they're fine.

Also, you people seem keen on pinning edgy grimdark poetry/Satan worship/edge for edge's sake/SUFFERING style music on me when I have never made that even remotely a subject or reference point. Are you just projecting your poor understanding of metal onto me or do you actually have such little experience with the genre, all you associate with it is edgy trash?
