People keep saying this despite it being as far from reality as possible.
If you're in a shitshack in flyoverland, when you go out to interact with people you're interacting with loud, rude Americans.
When you go to the store, you're going into an American store, with American products, and American staff.

I have never understood how this mentality that "it's just the country, it's the same anywhere!" could exist in anyone, outside of burgers that go their entire lives without setting foot outside of their own country.
