On a tangent, I came very close to losing my bitcoins a few weeks ago when my laptop wouldn't turn on one day. Luckily, it was a fixable problem, but I started taking backups very seriously after that, and I found a really good tool called restic.

https://github.com/restic/restic

- It's incremental, so that it doesn't waste space storing redundant data.
- It has the concept of snapshots so that you can travel back in time to past backups and even compare snapshots against each other.
- It supports many storage backends.
- It's encrypted, so people can't see the contents of your backups.
- It's command line which makes it scripting-friendly.

I spent a day to get things setup just the way I like it, and now I have automagic daily backups of my important files to two offsite servers.
