He actually spent most of his youth in China and almost entered a chinese mafia when he was young. He was actually expelled from high school because he stuck a butterfly knife on a desk. In the end he managed to stay clean because he got too hooked on otaku stuff after seeing Evangelion and ended up doing stuff like taking a loan in order to buy a Suigintou doll.

He has already said that during his youth he got expelled from a school because he stuck a butterfly knife on the principal's desk and came close to becoming an actual member of a chinese mafia. His current demeanor is already such a polarizing thing that I doubt his reputation could get any worse with anything he does/says to Shikorin.
