When I was a kid I thought that looks were the most important part, but as I grew I realized I was factually wrong, I met a 0/10 girl in school one time, she was a goblin, at first I was for obvious reasons no interested in having something with her aside for being my classmate, but as my relationship grew closer with her, I begin to not care about her looks and falling in love with her because for who she was. whatever, that ship has long sailed away.

I've thought about this quite a bit, would we WANT to be merged these days? Do I think they should merge? The split was done as a pre-emptive containment assuming I could secure out a way to port EN off of /jp/ altogether, because I thought back then that it was going to be a flop. Now though, they seem inseparable. I just don't know.

Think about it though, the combined thread speeds would make things pretty annoying at time. Your replies would just get lost mingling into large EN or JP streams etc. Two separate threads at least keeps things bearable - double the images, double the posts between them.

Meta question here so forgive me, but how would you guys feel if for some reason an image cap raise was considered not doable but there was a proposition to lower the auto-archive cap to 1500 instead to better-match the image:posts ratio?

We're actually of a somewhat similar size to them at the very least, you just can't tell. At a population size similar to /a/ or /tv/ right now, FYI those boards have userbases of several million people, and since at least 90% of /jp/'s traffic is just Holos, yeah.

We also dwarf all discords combined. The lurker:poster ratio is immense and also, the IP count/thread is only a momentary snapshot of it here. It does not tell you unique in past 24 hours, week etc.
