BD makes their products out of a nearly 100% Silicone gel and use hand made pour molds and then cut off the runner. While this manufactoring method allows them a high level of control over shape and coloration, as a non-injection based molding process it leads to a lot of minor defects and air bubbles in the molding process. This means they have a high incidence of flops and non-sell-able flops that they need to cover in their overhead.

It's also worth noting that silicone is about $40 a pint and they make some huge fucking products. So it's not like their manufacturing costs are minor even if you exclude the 'artistry value' of the design.

That said I feel like I wouldn't buy a sleeve from them for anything other than the aesthetic value as they're open ended and have essentially no texture.

They make good dildos, sleeves, not so much...
